SAP ABAP Technical Architect / Lead ABAP Developer,636
This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise-grade software applications across the full software development lifecycle. It includes ownership of scalable solution architecture, high-quality coding, end-to-end testing, and deployment of applications that meet business and user requirements. The position also covers full-stack responsibilities across UI and server-side components.
For SAP projects, the role specifically focuses on leading technical architecture and delivering advanced ABAP development aligned with modern SAP best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and technical architecture of SAP ABAP solutions aligned with business and enterprise standards.
- Contribute hands-on to complex ABAP development, including coding, debugging, performance tuning, and unit testing.
- Analyze business requirements and design integrated SAP solutions supporting the overall technical roadmap.
- Provide architectural guidance, code reviews, and technical leadership to ABAP development teams.
- Develop and customize SAP applications using ABAP, SAPUI5, Fiori, and SAP BTP components.
- Design and implement integrations using OData services, APIs, Web Services, BAPI, BADI, IDoc, and Java connectors.
- Lead SAP S/4HANA migrations, system upgrades, and cloud transformation initiatives.
- Conduct technical assessments to identify issues related to performance, security, and stability.
- Collaborate with functional teams, business stakeholders, project managers, and cross-functional technical groups.
- Prepare and maintain architectural documents, technical specifications, and solution design artifacts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex SAP issues with expert-level debugging.
- Stay current with SAP Clean Core principles, modern ABAP paradigms, and emerging SAP technologies.
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in SAP ABAP, ABAP Objects, new ABAP syntax, and performance optimization
- Hands-on experience with ABAP CDS Views, AMDP, and HANA SQL
- Proficiency in SAP Fiori/SAPUI5 and OData service development
- Knowledge of SAP BTP (CAP, RAP) and cloud-ready development models
- Experience with integration technologies including BAPI, BADI, IDoc, User Exits, APIs, RFCs, and Web Services
- Understanding of SAP security and authorization frameworks
- Experience with GitHub or similar version control tools
Preferred Skills
- API / API Gateway (APIGEE)
- SAP BTP CAP modeling
Experience
- Required: 810 years of progressive SAP ABAP development experience, including 35 years in an Architect or Lead Developer capacity
- Preferred: Project experience with SAP BTP (CAP, RAP)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
