Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically strong SAP ABAP Developer to join our enterprise applications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting robust SAP solutions across ECC and S/4HANA landscapes. This role requires deep expertise in modern ABAP development, strong exposure to S/4HANA system conversions, and the ability to deliver high-quality, performance-optimized solutions aligned with business objectives and SAP best practices.

The candidate should be capable of working independently, owning technical deliverables end-to-end, and collaborating closely with functional consultants, architects, and business stakeholders.

Technology Landscape

The role involves working extensively on platforms and technologies from SAP, including ECC, S/4HANA, and related cloud and integration technologies.

Key Responsibilities

ABAP Design & Development :
Design, develop, test, and maintain complex RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows).
Develop custom ABAP reports (classical, interactive, ALV, and OO ALV), interfaces, batch programs, and background jobs.
Design and enhance SmartForms, Adobe Forms, and SAP Scripts.
Build reusable, modular, and maintainable code using object-oriented ABAP concepts and established design patterns.
S/4HANA Implementation & Migration :
Participate in ECC to S/4HANA system conversions and S/4HANA implementation projects.
Perform custom code remediation, simplification item adaptations, and functional adjustments required for S/4HANA compatibility.
Analyze existing developments and propose redesign using S/4HANA and HANA-optimized approaches.
Support migration testing, defect resolution, and cutover activities.
ABAP on HANA & Advanced Development :
Develop and optimize CDS Views, AMDP procedures, and HANA-optimized Open SQL.
Apply push-down techniques to move business logic to the database layer.
Work with advanced SQL concepts such as joins, unions, subqueries, associations, and table functions.
Ensure solutions are scalable, high-performing, and future-ready.
Integration & API Development :
Design, develop, and consume OData services.
Develop and expose custom APIs and integrate with standard SAP APIs.
Support inbound and outbound integrations with third-party and non-SAP systems.
Performance Optimization & Quality Assurance :
Conduct performance tuning using SQL Trace, Runtime Analysis, Code Inspector, and ATC.
Follow SAP coding standards, naming conventions, and documentation guidelines.
Prepare technical design documents, unit test plans, and technical specifications.
Perform unit testing and support system, integration, and user acceptance testing.
Collaboration & Support :
Work closely with functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and solution walkthroughs.
Provide production support, root cause analysis, and resolution of incidents and defects.
Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

4 to 8 years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development.
Strong expertise in object-oriented ABAP, ABAP Objects, and standard design patterns.
Solid hands-on experience with CDS Views, AMDP, and HANA SQL.
Proven experience in S/4HANA implementations or ECC to S/4HANA system conversions.
Strong understanding of HANA performance optimization techniques.
Experience in developing and consuming OData services and APIs.
Good understanding of SAP development standards, transport management, and system landscapes.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
