About the Role
This role supports our stream on the production S/4HANA system — the integrated process covering Plant Maintenance (PM), Quality Management (QM), Production Planning (PP), Inventory Management (IM), and Enterprise Asset Management.
The work is hands-on ABAP development against an active enhancement and bug-fix backlog: building reports, enhancements, interfaces, and CDS-based reporting to support optimized Demand to Supply processes.
Responsibilities
- Build and enhance ABAP objects across the Demand to Supply module footprint — SD (sales and distribution), PP (production orders, MRP, planning, capacity), QM (inspection lots, quality notifications, results recording), IM (goods movements, physical inventory), and PM/EAM (work orders, notifications, equipment, functional locations).
- Develop reports, enhancements (BAdIs, user exits, FM exits, screen exits, implicit/explicit enhancements), and interfaces (BAPI, RFC, ALE/IDoc, proxy/SOA Manager) supporting process improvements.
- Build CDS views and OData services for analytics and Fiori-based reporting — production performance, quality KPIs, inventory accuracy, and maintenance backlog.
- Work directly with the functional and BA team to translate Demand to Supply process requirements into clean technical designs, then deliver against them — including data analysis to validate solutions before and after deployment.
- Triage and remediate Demand to Supply-related ABAP defects across the existing landscape; partner with the business analyst layer on root-cause analysis.
- Support testing cycles for new Demand to Supply functionality — unit testing, defect resolution during SIT/UAT, and post-go-live hypercare.
- Continuously identify performance and process optimization opportunities within the programs and surface recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of SAP ABAP development, with at least 3+ years on S/4HANA (1809 or later).
- Demonstrable Plant Maintenance, EAM, PP and QM development experience. This is the differentiating requirement — candidates must have shipped real ABAP work in SD (sales and distribution), PP and QM (production order enhancements, MRP exits, capacity planning logic, inspection lot custom logic, QM notification enhancements, results recording extensions, etc.). Generic ABAP-on-HANA without PP/QM exposure will not pass screen.
- ABAP 7.50+ syntax fluency, OOABAP, and the standard enhancement framework.
- CDS view development with performance tuning (filter pushdown, annotations, associations) and AMDP exposure.
- OData service development (SEGW or RAP).
- Interface experience: BAPI, RFC, ALE/IDoc, proxy/SOA Manager.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — comfortable analyzing data and system workflows to validate or shape technical designs.
- Effective communication with both technical and business stakeholders; able to clarify requirements directly with functional leads and BAs.
- Comfortable working offshore (India) on US business hours overlap for daily standups and tech screens with the US team.
Required Skills
- Inventory Management (IM) and PM/EAM ABAP experience as secondary modules.
- At least 2 full S/4HANA project lifecycles (implementation, conversion, or major upgrade).
- Forms development: Adobe Forms and Smart Forms for production, quality, and maintenance documents.
- Fiori/UI5 integration and embedded analytics for DTS reporting.
- BTP ABAP / Steampunk experience for cloud-side extensions.
- Process consulting exposure or experience working closely with business analysts on process optimization initiatives.
- SAP Activate or Agile/Scrum delivery experience.
