Responsibilities
The Sanctions Screening Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the cross-border sanctions payment screening processes to ensure compliance with international and national regulations. This role involves managing a team of analysts, developing and implementing screening procedures, and coordinating with various departments to mitigate risks associated with sanctioned entities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of sanctions screening analysts.
- Allocate tasks and manage workflow to ensure timely and accurate completion of screening activities.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Screening Operations:
- Oversee the daily operations of the sanctions screening process, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain screening procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date with current regulations.
- Conduct complex screenings and investigations, providing guidance and support to the team.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with international sanctions laws, including OFAC, UN, EU, and other relevant regulations.
- Identify potential risks and escalate issues as necessary.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with sanctioned entities.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular reports on screening activities, including metrics and key performance indicators.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all screening activities and investigations.
- Ensure proper documentation of decisions and actions taken.
- Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs for new and existing team members.
- Keep the team updated on changes in regulations and best practices.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
- Work Schedule & Shift Flexibility:
- The role requires flexibility to work across different shifts, including night shifts, based on business requirements and coverage needs.
- Return to Office (RTO) Requirement:
- This position follows the company's Return to Office (RTO) policy, with 4 days of Work From Office (WFO) per week being mandatory.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, including Legal, Risk, and Operations, to ensure a cohesive approach to sanctions compliance.
- Act as a point of contact for internal and external audits and regulatory inquiries.
- Liaise with external partners and regulatory bodies as required.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Law, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in sanctions compliance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of SWIFT messaging standards, including ISO 20022 and free‑format messaging.
- In-depth knowledge of international sanctions regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using sanctions screening software and tools.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
