Job Title: Same Day Surgery Facility Coder

Job Summary: The Same Day Surgery Coder is responsible for accurately coding surgical procedures performed on the same day as the patient's admission. This role ensures compliance with coding guidelines and regulations while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and analyze medical records, operative reports, and other documentation to ensure accurate coding of procedures and diagnoses.

Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for same day surgeries in accordance with coding guidelines and payer requirements.

Apply facility-specific coding rules and adhere to official coding guidelines.

Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation when necessary to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Stay updated on changes in coding standards, regulations, and best practices to maintain compliance and enhance coding accuracy.

Provide education and support to clinical staff regarding proper documentation practices and coding requirements.

Assist in the preparation of reports related to coding accuracy, productivity, and compliance.

Qualifications:

Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), or similar credential is mandatory.

Minimum 4 years of experience in medical coding, with specific experience in same day surgery coding preferred.

Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical procedures.

Proficient in coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
