SAM Data & Technologies Specialist:
ROLE:
Zurich Insurance Group is seeking a technical Senior Software Asset Management (SAM) Data and Technologies Specialist to join the global Software Asset Management function. The objective of this role is to maintain and further develop the Flexera platform, along with in-house SAM solutions and data platforms. This is a senior technical position requiring a broad understanding of IT technologies, data concepts, Software Asset Management, and service management, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholder groups across Zurich Group.
Group Technology and Operations Software Asset Management is an international team of SAM experts located across four countries. The team manages a multi-million-dollar software portfolio and a SAM technology stack that supports IT stakeholders in achieving their objectives. This role provides an opportunity to work at a group-wide global level and contribute to defining and implementing best-practice methodologies in SAM services.
EXPECTATIONS FROM THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The role serves as the application owner for the Software Asset Management (SAM) technology and data solutions, ensuring effective operation and continuous enhancement of the platform.
- The individual will actively participate in the team responsible for deploying, customizing, supporting, and improving SAM technology and data platforms. They will support the implementation of the SAM framework by contributing technical and data-driven insights to internal and external customers.
- The role requires application of industry best practices and sharing of lessons learned in tools and data management within the SAM domain. It also involves providing IT operational best practices and insights to support successful rollout of applications across multiple platforms.
- The candidate must demonstrate familiarity with enterprise-grade software use cases across infrastructure, cloud computing, containerization, and tier 1 publisher products. A strong understanding of downstream and upstream SAM processes is required to ensure end-to-end process awareness.
- The role includes close collaboration with stakeholders across IT architecture, governance, security, support and operations, finance, and procurement to drive alignment and achieve outcomes. The individual will also be responsible for creating and maintaining clear documentation to ensure transparency and knowledge management.
- Additional responsibilities include supporting and driving the implementation of global SAM technology standards, processes, controls, and reporting, as well as monitoring agreed performance indicators and control metrics. The role requires effective workload tracking and management to ensure deadlines and targets are consistently met.
- Continuous improvement of SAM processes is a key expectation, including leveraging AI capabilities to reduce manual effort, identifying recurring patterns, and uncovering optimization opportunities. The role also requires maintaining clean and well-structured code in line with best practices and standards.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & PERSONAL TRAITS:
- The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of relevant technical experience, demonstrating strong expertise and proven results.
- A strong understanding of Software Asset Management and licensing concepts is required, along with hands-on experience with SAM platforms such as Flexera. Experience with ServiceNow CMDB is considered an advantage.
- The role requires deep expertise in SQL for advanced data manipulation and analysis, with Databricks experience considered beneficial. Knowledge of API integration for platform interoperability is also required.
- Proficiency in Python programming is essential for automation and process enhancement. The candidate should have experience managing ETL processes, data warehousing, and data quality assurance.
- Familiarity with administration of Windows, Unix/Linux, and virtualization platforms is required. Strong analytical skills using business intelligence tools are essential, with Power BI experience considered a plus.
- The candidate should have a proven track record of adopting and embedding AI solutions into day-to-day operations, along with strong time management and project management skills. Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
