Job Description

The Sales Team Leader will be a crucial part of our high-performing sales unit in Kochi. This role is responsible for leading, motivating, and managing a team of Sales Consultants to consistently achieve and exceed aggressive sales targets for our diverse portfolio of insurance products (Life, Health, Motor, etc.). The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can coach, analyze performance, and drive operational excellence in a fast-paced telesales environment.

Key Roles and Responsibilities (Primary Focus: Targets & Team)

1. Driving Sales Performance & Target Achievement

  • Target Ownership: Take complete ownership of the team's monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Strategy Execution: Implement daily, weekly, and monthly sales strategies, call-out plans, and process changes defined by the management.
  • Performance Monitoring: Closely track individual and team sales metrics, conversion rates, and call quality, intervening with immediate action plans to address any gaps.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize CRM and internal sales tools to analyze data, forecast sales trends, and report performance insights to the Sales Manager.

2. Team Management & Coaching

  • Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and inspire the sales team to maintain high morale, a positive work ethic, and a result-oriented culture.
  • Coaching & Training: Conduct regular side-by-side coaching, call audits, and training sessions to improve product knowledge, sales pitch delivery, objection handling, and telesales techniques.
  • Performance Management: Conduct formal performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and manage the performance improvement plan (PIP) process for underperformers.
  • Team Huddle: Organize and lead daily team huddles to review previous day's performance, communicate targets, and provide motivational guidance.

3. Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Process Adherence: Ensure the team strictly adheres to Policybazaar's sales processes, quality standards, and all regulatory compliance guidelines related to insurance selling.
  • Grievance Resolution: Serve as the first point of escalation for complex customer queries or conflicts, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution.
  • Team Administration: Manage team roster, leaves, and attendance to ensure adequate staffing and operational continuity.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Must-Have

  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of overall experience in Sales, with a minimum of 1-2 years in a team-leading or supervisory role in a telesales or outbound calling environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Proven experience in the Insurance or Financial Services (BFSI) sector is highly preferred.
  • Educational Background: Graduate in any discipline.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Malayalam (or a relevant regional language for Kochi).
  • Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of CRM software (e.g., Salesforce), MS Office/Google Workspace, and sales analytics tools.
