Job Description: Sales Manager Payroll Outsourcing (India)

Experience: 810 Years (Mandatory experience in Payroll BPO/Managed Services)

Location: India (Tier 1 Hubs: Mumbai/NCR/Bengaluru/Pune)

Target Segment: Mid-to-Large Enterprises (Enterprise Sales / Strategic Accounts)

Role Objective

The Sales Manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth by acquiring new enterprise clients for our Payroll Outsourcing and Statutory Compliance services. You will act as a Consultative Closer, identifying pain points in manual payroll processes and pitching our managed services as a strategic solution for risk management and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities

1. New Business Acquisition (Hunter Role)

  • End-to-End Sales Cycle: Manage the full sales lifecyclefrom lead generation and cold outreach to high-stakes boardroom presentations and final contract negotiation.
  • Consultative Selling: Analyze a prospect's current payroll architecture (In-house vs. Outsourced) to identify gaps in Statutory Compliance (PF, ESI, PT, LWF) and process leaks.
  • Solution Designing: Collaborate with the Operations and Implementation teams to create tailored payroll outsourcing proposals (Managed Services vs. SaaS+Service).

2. Strategic Market Positioning

  • Competitor Intelligence: Leverage your 8+ years of domain expertise to position our value proposition against major players (e.g., ADP, Neeyamo, Quess, Paysquare).
  • Vertical Expansion: Identify and penetrate high-growth sectors for outsourcing, such as Manufacturing, Retail, IT/ITES, and the gig economy.
  • Compliance Pitching: Sell Peace of Mind by highlighting our expertise in navigating the New Labour Codes and state-specific complexities.

3. Commercials & Contract Management

  • Pricing Strategy: Master the PEPM (Per Employee Per Month) pricing model, including implementation fees, out-of-pocket expenses, and statutory filing charges.
  • RFP/RFI Management: Lead the response for complex Requests for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring all technical and financial parameters are met.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Navigate and influence key decision-makers: CFOs (on cost), CHROs (on employee experience), and Legal/Compliance Heads (on risk).

Technical & Domain Experience Required

  • Direct Domain Experience: 8+ years exclusively in the Payroll Outsourcing/BPO sector. We are looking for candidates who understand Gross-to-Net as well as they understand Sales Funnels.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of Indian Statutory requirements (EPF, ESI, TDS, Professional Tax, and LWF across various states).
  • Technology Familiarity: Experience selling or working with top-tier payroll engines (e.g., SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, or proprietary BPO platforms).
  • Network: A ready-to-tap network of HR and Finance leaders in the Indian market.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  1. New Revenue (ACV/TCV): Achieving annual sales targets for New Business.
  2. Sales Pipeline Velocity: Average time taken from Lead to Parallel Run (Go-live).
  3. Average Deal Value: Increasing the ticket size by up-selling Compliance-as-a-Service or Exit Management.
  4. Lead Conversion Rate: High conversion from Discovery Call to RFP Stage.
