About The Role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced
Head – Herbal Extract to lead and drive B2B sales for our herbal extract product portfolio in the Delhi region. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in herbal/botanical extracts, nutraceuticals, or allied industries with a proven track record in B2B sales, new product development, and market expansion. This is a senior individual contributor-cum-leadership role requiring strong commercial acumen, scientific understanding of herbal extracts, and the ability to independently manage the full sales cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Target Achievement
- Own and drive the regional B2B sales targets for the herbal extract product portfolio
- Develop and execute a structured sales plan aligned with organizational revenue goals
- Track and report sales performance against monthly, quarterly, and annual targets
- Maintain a healthy and growing sales pipeline at all times
Lead Generation & Prospecting
- Identify, generate, and qualify leads through industry networks, trade shows, online platforms, and referrals
- Conduct prospect research to understand client needs, buying patterns, and decision-making hierarchy
- Build and maintain a strong prospect database of potential B2B clients including manufacturers, formulators, exporters, and traders in the herbal and nutraceutical space
- Proactively reach out and initiate business conversations with potential customers
Prospect Conversion & Client Acquisition
- Convert qualified prospects into active business accounts through structured follow-ups, product demonstrations, and negotiations
- Prepare and present customized proposals, quotations, and product presentations tailored to client requirements
- Manage the complete sales cycle from first contact to deal closure
Account Management & Cross-Selling
- Build strong, long-term relationships with existing B2B clients to ensure retention and repeat business
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling additional product lines within the existing client base
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts and ensure high levels of client satisfaction
Customer Issue Resolution
- Handle all customer queries, complaints, and escalations in a timely and professional manner
- Coordinate with internal teams (production, quality, logistics) to ensure quick and effective resolution of client concerns
- Maintain accurate records of all customer interactions and issue resolutions via CRM
Market Research & Demand Analysis
- Continuously monitor and analyze new market demands, emerging trends, and evolving customer needs in the herbal extract space
- Conduct field visits and customer interactions to gather ground-level market intelligence
- Provide periodic market insight reports to leadership to support strategic planning
New Product Identification & Introduction
- Identify gaps in the current product portfolio based on client feedback, market trends, and competitor offerings
- Work closely with the R&D and product teams to propose and introduce new herbal extract products aligned with market demand
- Support the go-to-market strategy for new product launches in the B2B segment
New Product Development (NPD) & Commercialization
- Actively participate in the NPD process by providing commercial inputs, customer requirements, and market specifications to the technical team
- Drive the commercialization of new products — from pilot stage to full-scale market introduction
- Coordinate with quality, regulatory, and production teams to ensure products meet industry standards and client expectations
- Monitor commercial performance of newly launched products and provide feedback for improvement
Market & Competition Analysis
- Conduct regular market mapping and competitive benchmarking to understand competitor pricing, product range, positioning, and strategies
- Analyze industry developments, regulatory changes, and raw material trends that may impact the herbal extract business
- Use market insights to recommend pricing strategies, product positioning, and sales approaches
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- B.Sc / M.Sc in Botany, Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Biotechnology, or related Life Sciences field
- MBA in Sales & Marketing preferred (not mandatory)
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in B2B sales within the Herbal Extract, Nutraceuticals, Botanical Ingredients, Phytochemicals, or Natural Products industry
- Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
- Prior experience in NPD coordination and product commercialization will be a strong advantage
- Existing network and relationships with buyers, procurement teams, and decision-makers in the herbal/nutraceutical/FMCG/pharma industry
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of herbal extracts, standardized extracts, phytochemicals, and botanical ingredients
- Excellent B2B sales, negotiation, and client relationship management skills
- Ability to independently manage the end-to-end sales cycle
- Strong analytical and market research capabilities
- Proficient in MS Office, CRM tools, and sales reporting
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Hindi
- Self-driven, target-oriented, and comfortable working in a field-intensive role
