The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and student-focused Conversion Specialist to support one of Acumen's strategic university partners. The role is pivotal in guiding prospective students through their admissions journeydriving high-quality engagement, ensuring effective lead management, and increasing conversion from inquiry to enrollment.
The ideal candidate will bring excellent communication skills, strong relationship management abilities, and experience in admissions counselling or student recruitment . The position requires strong follow-up discipline, attention to detail, and the capability to work with multiple technology platforms including CRM systems and Excel. Travel within India (up to 25%) may be required for fairs, events, and outreach activities.
Role Summary :
The Sales & Conversion Specialist is responsible for delivering a seamless applicant experience by conducting phone consultations, screening applications, responding to queries, managing leads, and ensuring adherence to the university's admission policies and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Student & Parent Engagement + Sales Conversion
1.Conduct professional counselling calls with students and parents to understand academic history, aspirations, motivation for Japan, and long-term career plans.
2.Clearly articulate the value proposition of studying in Japaneducation quality, safety, cost advantages, career pathways, scholarships, language requirements, and living experience.
3.Handle objections confidently, provide maturity-driven guidance, and build trust with parents who may be unfamiliar with Japan as a study destination.
4.Convert leads generated through marketing campaigns, webinars, referrals, events, and partner networks.
5.Manage structured and consistent follow-ups across enquiry counselling application offer payment stages.
6.Track post-application requirements (documents, interviews, tests) and ensure timely completion.
7.Use strong persuasion and negotiation skills to influence decision-making and maximise conversions.
Admissions Support & Screening
1.Perform initial eligibility checks based on Japan pathway requirements (academics, language ability, documentation, program prerequisites).
2.Review student transcripts, passports, SOPs, and other supporting documents for completeness and accuracy.
3.Assist in coordinating application submissions to Japanese universities, language schools, or pathway programs.
4.Ensure compliance with partner guidelines, Japan study visa norms, and internal SOPs.
Lead Management, CRM Ownership & Reporting
1.Efficiently manage all leads through CRM (Zoho) with accurate logging of calls, follow-ups, conversations, and movement across funnel stages.
2.Monitor enquiry-to-conversion performance, ensuring every lead progresses with zero leakage.
3.Prepare weekly and monthly conversion reports, analysing lead quality, student behaviour trends, and campaign outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance
1.Maintain professional communication with students, parents, agents, and internal teams.
2.Coordinate with counsellors, admissions teams, and university partners to ensure a smooth student journey.
3.Stay updated on Japanese education policies, program updates, scholarship announcements, and visa regulations.
4.Represent the Study in Japan vertical in events, school visits, and student engagement activities (up to 2025% travel).
Qualifications & Experience
1.Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, International Relations, or a related field.
2.25 years of experience in student counselling, tele-calling, study abroad sales, or BPO/outbound callingpreferably with international education exposure.
3.Strong experience in high-quality phone-based engagement with both parents and students.
4.Experience with CRM-driven lead management and sales pipelines.
5.Prior exposure to Japan, South Korea, or East Asian education markets is an advantage (not mandatory).
