The Sales & Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving business growth through new client acquisition, relationship management, and strategic business development initiatives. The role requires strong logistics industry knowledge, sales expertise, and the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, agents, and international partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities through lead generation, networking, and cold calling activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients to support long-term business growth.
- Manage key client accounts and handle high-level customer enquiries and escalations.
- Develop and execute business development strategies to increase market share and identify new growth opportunities.
- Promote and sell the company's full range of logistics and supply chain solutions.
- Build and strengthen trade lanes with international offices and partners across Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa, the USA, and other regions.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to stay ahead of market opportunities.
- Analyze business performance, trade lanes, and shipment volumes, and prepare management reports and recommendations.
- Negotiate freight rates and pricing structures with carriers, agents, and service providers.
- Manage and maintain freight rate cards, pricing structures, and quotation processes.
- Review and quality-check quotations before submission to clients.
- Support operational teams to ensure service excellence and smooth execution of logistics solutions.
- Supervise workflow and provide guidance to team members where required.
- Maintain strong relationships with overseas agents and business partners.
Requirements:
- Minimum Diploma, Undergraduate Degree, or equivalent qualification.
- At least 8-12 years of experience within the logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain industry.
- Proven track record in sales, business development, client acquisition, and account management.
- Strong knowledge of import and export operations, freight forwarding, warehousing, customs procedures, and logistics solutions.
- Experience in Sea Freight and Air Freight operations, including import/export shipments, consolidations, and freight negotiations.
- Strong understanding of freight pricing, rate structures, and quotation management.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to identify and develop new growth opportunities.
- Ability to analyze business performance, trade lanes, shipment volumes, and prepare management reports.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, including report generation and data analysis.
- Strong internet research and market analysis skills.
- Experience with CargoWise would be highly advantageous.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven with a strong sales mindset.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and perform effectively under pressure.
- Comfortable handling conflicts, problem-solving, and managing challenging situations.
- Open, honest, and professional communication style.
- Willing to learn, adapt, and take on responsibilities beyond the core job scope.
