Role purpose
Build and own the Tirupur market for the unit's dyed knitted fabric across both job-work and outright-sale models, with a clear volume mandate of 100–150 tons/month. This is a hunter role in India's densest knitwear cluster — the person must convert technical credibility and local relationships into committed monthly tonnage, and act as the on-ground bridge between Tirupur customers and the Solapur processing unit.
Key responsibilities
- Own a monthly volume target of 100–150 tons of dyed knit fabric in Tirupur, across both job-work processing and outright fabric sale.
- Develop and manage relationships with garment exporters, buying houses, knitters and fabric traders in the Tirupur ecosystem — both new-customer acquisition and existing-account growth.
- Translate customer technical specifications (GSM, shade, fabric structure — SJ, interlock, pique, rib, fleece — finish type, fastness and shrinkage requirements) into accurate, profitable quotations, pricing both job-work and outright models correctly.
- Diagnose and manage the technical problems specific to knits — shade variation, spirality, dimensional stability, GSM deviation, barré, running-shade — and set realistic expectations with customers to prevent disputes.
- Coordinate with the lab and production at Solapur on shade approvals, lab-dip submissions, sampling, capability and delivery commitments — represent the plant's real capability honestly to the customer.
- Manage order booking, follow-up, dispatch coordination and payment collection / outstanding control for the territory.
- Provide market intelligence — competitor pricing, capacity, customer demand trends, the job-work vs. outright rate movements in the cluster — back to management.
- Build the territory's sales pipeline and monthly forecast against the volume mandate.
Qualifications & skills
- 7+ years in textile fabric sales, with direct experience selling knitted fabric or dyeing/processing services — ideally within or into the Tirupur cluster.
- Locally resident in Tirupur, with an existing network among knitters, exporters and traders.
- Sound technical understanding of knitted fabric and processing — able to read a customer spec, anticipate problems, and quote without constant back-referral.
- Demonstrable ability to carry and deliver a monthly tonnage target; comfortable owning both job-work and outright-sale commercials.
- Tamil fluency essential (the cluster runs on it); Hindi/English working proficiency for plant and management interface.
- Strong commercial instinct on pricing, margins and outstanding control; self-driven field operator.
