Role Description The Safety Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Jamshedpur, responsible for overseeing and promoting a safe working environment across industrial and mining operations. This role involves monitoring daily site activities to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and standard operating procedures. The Safety Supervisor will conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits, and will investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. The role includes planning and delivering safety training and toolbox talks for employees and contractors, maintaining accurate safety records and reports, and coordinating with operations, maintenance, and management teams to implement preventive measures. The Safety Supervisor will also support emergency preparedness, including drills, response planning, and readiness of safety equipment.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and Occupational Health principles, regulations, and best practices relevant to industrial and mining environments.
- Demonstrated experience in Safety Engineering and implementation of safety systems, procedures, and controls on-site.
- Practical experience in Safety Training, including conducting toolbox talks, inductions, and ongoing safety awareness programs.
- Proven capability in Accident Investigation, incident reporting, root-cause analysis, and development of corrective and preventive actions.
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; relevant safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) are preferred.
- Experience in heavy industry, mining, steel, power, or construction operations, with familiarity in on-site safety supervision.
- Strong observation, documentation, and reporting skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with workforce, supervisors, and management.
- Ability to work on-site in dynamic and challenging environments, demonstrate sound judgment, and promote a proactive safety culture.
