Safety Officer

THE ROLE 

The Safety Officer is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, compliant, and risk-free working environment within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures adherence to statutory safety regulations, drives proactive hazard prevention, and builds a strong safety culture across shopfloor operations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

Compliance & Regulations

• Ensure adherence to OSHA, ISO 45001, Factories Act and other statutory requirements
• Support internal/external audits and maintain compliance readiness

Risk Assessment & Hazard Control

• Conduct safety audits, inspections, HIRA/JSA across plant operations
• Identify hazards, unsafe acts/conditions and drive corrective actions

Incident Management

• Investigate accidents, near-misses, perform root cause analysis
• Implement preventive measures and track closure

Training & Awareness

• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, mock drills
• Promote PPE usage and safe work practices

Shopfloor Safety

• Monitor high-risk activities (work at height, hot work, confined space)
• Enforce permit-to-work (PTW) systems and on-ground safety discipline

Emergency Preparedness

• Conduct emergency drills (fire, evacuation, medical)
• Ensure first-aid readiness and fire safety systems

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain incident logs, audit reports, training records
• Track safety KPIs and report to management

Stakeholder Coordination

• Liaise with government authorities, auditors, and internal teams
• Drive a proactive safety culture across the organization

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT 

– Not a reactive policing role; expected to proactively prevent incidents, not just report them

– Not limited to documentation; requires strong shopfloor presence and intervention

– Not an administrative only job; involves hands on risk identification and real time decision making

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

– Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field

– Certification in safety standards (mandatory):

• NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, or OSHA
• Fire and First Aid Training (certified)

– 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing / construction / industrial setup
