About the Role

Shanthi Feeds Pvt. Ltd. is looking for a Safety Officer – Fire & Industrial Safety to take responsibility for fire prevention, occupational safety, emergency preparedness, statutory compliance and workplace safety at our chicken processing and food manufacturing facility.

The candidate will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, HR and Engineering teams to create and maintain a safe working environment across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor Fire & Industrial Safety systems throughout the chicken processing facility.
• Conduct regular plant safety inspections, workplace audits and hazard identification.
• Carry out risk assessments / Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for critical activities.
• Identify unsafe conditions and practices and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and implement safety procedures, SOPs and safe work practices.
• Plan and conduct fire drills, emergency mock drills and evacuation exercises.
• Inspect and monitor fire extinguishers, hydrants, fire pumps, alarms, emergency exits and other fire protection systems.
• Ensure emergency equipment is readily available, accessible and maintained.
• Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety awareness programmes for employees, technicians and contract workers.
• Train employees on PPE, fire safety, emergency response, electrical safety, working at height, confined space and other applicable safety practices.
• Monitor compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW), LOTO and contractor safety procedures.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe occurrences, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain safety documentation including inspection reports, training records, drill records, incident reports and statutory registers.
• Coordinate with Production and Maintenance teams before carrying out high-risk maintenance or engineering activities.
• Ensure proper housekeeping, emergency access and safe movement of personnel and materials within the plant.
• Monitor safe handling and storage of chemicals, cleaning agents, fuels and other hazardous materials.
• Support emergency preparedness and coordinate with external emergency services/authorities whenever required.
• Assist in implementation and maintenance of ISO-based management systems and other applicable safety standards.
• Support compliance with applicable Factories, Fire & Safety and Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
• Conduct periodic safety training and evaluate employee awareness and compliance.
• Promote a strong safety culture and zero-incident mindset across the organization.

Qualification & Experience

Essential:

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Fire & Safety, Industrial Safety or equivalent qualification.
• 0–8 years of experience in a factory, manufacturing plant or industrial environment.
• Good practical and theoretical knowledge of Fire & Industrial Safety.

Preferred:

• Experience in Poultry Processing / Chicken Processing / Food Processing / Manufacturing Industry.
• Knowledge of ISO management systems will be an added advantage.
• Experience in conducting fire drills, mock drills, safety training and risk assessments will be preferred.
