Job Description / Responsibilities
We are seeking a responsible and knowledgeable Safety Officer for our chemical manufacturing unit. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all statutory safety norms and maintaining a safe working environment for employees and surroundings.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Liaison and coordination with Factory Inspector, GPCB, Fire & Safety Department, and other regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with all applicable norms.
- Implementation, monitoring, and documentation of safety procedures, audits, and daily safety checks across the organization.
- Ensuring the safety of co-workers, factory premises, and the environment.
- Monitoring and control of water consumption, solid waste management, wastewater management, and handling of gas, water, and material leakage/spillage.
- Implementation of 5S practices across all departments.
- Conducting safety training programs for employees and contractors in all departments.
- Preparing and maintaining risk analysis reports, identifying hazards, and implementing corrective measures.
- Maintaining, updating, and coordinating ISO 9000 records and formats related to the department in coordination with the Management Representative (MR).
- Ensuring timely completion of JD, Performance Appraisal (PA), and departmental objectives.
HR Responsibilities
- Salary calculation and coordination with accounts/HR.
- Maintaining HR policies and records.
- Coordination with internal staff and department heads.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of industrial safety norms related to fire, electrical, chemical handling, and operations.
- Expertise in risk assessment and hazard analysis.
- Knowledge of chemical storage norms, permissions, and legal compliances.
- Good communication and training skills.
- Strong PRO skills to handle government bodies and internal departments.
- Ability to stay updated with latest safety regulations and legal requirements.
Basic Skills
- Ability to read, write, and understand English (fluency not mandatory).
- Comfortable using computers (MS Word, Excel, Email, Google Drive, PowerPoint).

- Reporting To: Management & All Departments
- Roles Reporting Into This Position: Heads of Departments (HODs)
Interactions
- Internal: Management and all factory departments
- External: Contractors, Government Officials, Local Authorities
Key Result Areas & Evaluation
- Safety audits to be conducted at least once every two months.
- Performance evaluated based on audit results, internal and external feedback, vendors, and business associates.
