Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Officer to oversee Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) activities at our Tarapur manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations, implement best EHS practices, conduct risk assessments, and foster a strong safety culture across the organization. This role is best suited for professionals with experience in chemical or process manufacturing environments.

Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironment, Health & Safety (EHS)
  • Implement and monitor Environment, Health & Safety policies across the manufacturing facility.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, environmental laws, and company EHS standards.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through continuous awareness and engagement initiatives.
Safety Compliance
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) guidelines, and other applicable statutory requirements.
  • Maintain statutory registers, permits, licenses, and EHS documentation.
Incident Management
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain incident reports and ensure timely closure of action items.
  • Develop emergency response procedures and coordinate mock drills.
Training & Awareness
  • Conduct induction and periodic safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Organize fire safety drills, emergency preparedness exercises, and toolbox talks.
  • Drive employee participation in workplace safety initiatives.
Environmental Management
  • Monitor waste management, emissions, effluent handling, and pollution control activities.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure environmentally sustainable manufacturing practices.
  • Support environmental audits and regulatory inspections.
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Work closely with Production, Maintenance, HR, and Quality teams to ensure safe working practices.
  • Support ISO management systems, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare EHS reports, dashboards, and compliance updates for management review.

Criteria

Requirement

Education

B.Sc. in Chemistry (Minimum Qualification)

Experience

Minimum 5 years in EHS / Industrial Safety within Chemical or Process Manufacturing industries

Industry

Experience in Specialty Chemicals, Polymers, Resins, Paints, Coatings, or related manufacturing industries preferred

Core Knowledge

Industrial Safety, Environmental Compliance, Risk Assessment, Fire Safety, Emergency Response, Statutory Compliance, EHS Management Systems

Location

Candidates residing in Western Suburbs of Mumbai preferred

Languages

Proficient in English and Hindi / Marathi

Skills

Strong knowledge of safety regulations, excellent observation and analytical skills, incident investigation, communication, training, and stakeholder management
