Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with safety regulations, guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Training and Awareness: Organize safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and drills to enhance worker safety awareness.
  • Incident Management: Investigate accidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate safety records, including incident reports, safety checklists, and audit findings.
  • PPE Monitoring: Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all personnel.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans for site-specific risks.
  • Communication: Regularly communicate safety expectations and updates to the project team and management.
  • Regulatory Updates: Stay up-to-date with local, state, and national safety regulations and standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to improve safety processes and reduce workplace hazards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 years of experience as a Safety Officer in road construction or a similar role.
  • Professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and tools.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress environment with a focus on safety and compliance.
