About Aspire - IITB Research Park Foundation (IITBRPF):
In 2016, the Ministry of Education entrusted IIT Bombay with a pivotal mission: to establish the Research Park within the sprawling campus in Powai, Mumbai. Job Description:
The Safety Officer at ASPIRE, IIT Bombay Research Park Foundation is responsible for ensuring a secure work environment and upholding safety regulations.
The ideal candidate should be selfmotivated, be willing to learn and manage other aspects of safety outside of his/her sphere of experience and must have excellent written and verbal communication.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Inspect, test, operate, and maintain fire safety equipment and systems using hand tools, hydrostatic test equipment, and monitoring devices.
Coordinate with OE/AMC service providers for major maintenance, repair, and replacement of fire safety system parts.
Conduct daily monitoring and preventive maintenance of fire safety equipment and systems.
Carry out periodic testing and inspections of fire protection systems to ensure functionality and compliance.
Assist in fire safety inspections, mock drills, and emergency response activities.
Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety plans in compliance with statutory regulations.
Prepare and enforce safety policies to foster a culture of health, safety, and compliance within the workplace.
Evaluate existing processes, facilities, and practices to identify risks and ensure adherence to legal requirements.
Conduct awareness programs, training sessions, and presentations on fire safety, accident prevention, and occupational health practices.
Monitor compliance with safety standards, laws, and organizational policies by inspecting machinery, and operations.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
Prepare reports on safety performance, compliance status, incident statistics, and improvement initiatives.
Recommend continuous improvements in safety systems, policies, and procedures.
Skills and Expertise:
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred education background in BE (Fire Engineering) / B.Tech.(Safety & Fire Engineering) from a University / Institution recognized by Govt of India with 3 years of experience in fire safety in high-rise buildings and a Specialized certificate in regular Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS) from a reputed Institute.
Experience in handling various safety related assignments in a government or reputed organization.
Knowledge of relevant safety codes of practice and national statutes.
Good to have experience in compliance monitoring and safety audits.
