Position: Safety Expert
Department: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Reporting To: Project Manager / Project Director
Role Purpose:
The Safety Expert shall be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards at project sites. The role ensures compliance with statutory regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices during construction activities, including slope stabilization, soil nailing, rock anchoring, gabion structures, and associated civil works.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety plans and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, statutory requirements, and client safety standards.
• Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments at project sites.
• Monitor construction activities and ensure safe work practices are followed.
• Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and safety awareness programs.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events and prepare reports.
• Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all personnel.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Maintain safety records, reports, permits, and compliance documentation.
• Monitor subcontractors and ensure adherence to project safety requirements.
• Promote a positive safety culture across the project site.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities on safety matters.
Educational Qualification:
Any one of the following:
• B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience in construction safety,
OR
• Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety with minimum 3 years of experience in construction safety,
OR
• Diploma in Civil Engineering + Degree/Diploma in Construction Safety with minimum 3 years of experience in construction safety.
Requirements
• Experience in construction safety management.
• Experience in slope stabilization, soil nailing, rock anchoring, gabion structures, retaining structures, and civil construction projects.
• Experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety compliance monitoring.
• Knowledge of safety standards, permit systems, and emergency response procedures.
• Experience in conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
