Job Description

Job Description – IT System Administrator / System Analyst / Site Engineer

Reports to: Head of IT Infrastructure Location: India (Multi-city travel may be required)

Role Summary

We are looking for a hands-on IT professional with 4–6 years of experience in supporting enterprise IT and ICT infrastructure. This role involves providing L2/L3 support for IT systems, campus AV infrastructure, network devices, and hybrid teaching technologies. The candidate will troubleshoot issues, manage network security, assist with implementations, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations across academic and administrative spaces.

Key Responsibilities

1. Infrastructure Monitoring & Operational Support

•Monitor and support Audio Visual systems in classrooms, lecture theatres, and auditoriums.

•Support lecture capture and hybrid learning systems.

•Maintain video conferencing infrastructure.

•Manage campus IT network, including:

oNetwork switches (core, distribution, access)

oRouters and gateways

oWireless access points and controllers

oPassive network infrastructure (cabling, patch panels, racks)

oFirewalls, VLANs, and VPNs

•Support CCTV surveillance systems and access control systems.

•Ensure ICT infrastructure connected to teaching and administrative spaces operates efficiently.

•Conduct routine system health checks, identify and troubleshoot faults, perform local rectifications, coordinate with OEM vendors, and manage equipment replacements using standby inventory.

2. Classroom & Academic Session Readiness

•Conduct Classroom Readiness Checks prior to scheduled teaching sessions.

•Verify AV equipment functionality: projectors, displays, microphones, speakers, and control systems.

•Test lecture capture and video conferencing systems for hybrid classes.

•Ensure connectivity to campus network and internet.

•Check network connectivity, VLANs, Wi-Fi coverage, and firewall access for classrooms and labs.

•Rectify any issues prior to the start of teaching sessions or escalate per defined protocols.

3. Incident Management & Troubleshooting

•Provide first-level technical support for all ICT infrastructure incidents.

•Diagnose and troubleshoot issues across AV, IT, CCTV, network devices, and access control systems.

•Resolve connectivity issues, firewall access problems, and network performance bottlenecks.

•Restore services immediately wherever feasible.

•Log and track incidents using the University's service management platform.

•Coordinate with OEM vendors for equipment under warranty.

•Monitor incident resolution and ensure closure in the CMMS/service platform.

4. Preventive Maintenance

•Conduct monthly preventive maintenance for classroom AV systems, network switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, CCTV, and access control systems.

•Perform firmware verification, security patching, and basic configuration checks for network devices and firewalls.

•Maintain preventive maintenance reports and documentation.

•Align maintenance schedules with the University's operational calendar.

5. Event, Auditorium & Special Session Support

•Provide onsite technical support for institutional events, including guest lectures, academic conferences, auditoriums, hybrid teaching, and special events.

•Conduct pre-event system checks and configure AV/video conferencing systems, network connectivity, and firewall access.

•Offer technical support during events as required.

•Coordinate event schedules with University IT or facilities teams.

6. CMMS / Service Management Integration

•Integrate all service activities with the University's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or designated service management platform.

•Log and track incidents, manage assets and service history, schedule preventive maintenance, handle service requests, and document corrective actions.

Required Experience & Qualifications

•4–6 years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, and ICT support.

•Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, network switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi networks, and network security.

•Experience with AV systems, lecture capture, hybrid learning tools, video conferencing, CCTV, and access control systems.

•Skilled in troubleshooting network performance, connectivity issues, and firewall configurations.

•Ability to document configurations, network diagrams, and service reports.

•Good coordination, communication, and incident management skills.

•Willingness to travel across multiple campuses as required.
