Job Description

This is a remote position.

Shuru is an AI-native engineering services company building products with leading startups, enterprises, and well-funded scale-ups across India, Southeast Asia, the UAE, and global markets. Our engineers work in small, dedicated squads, ship in weekly cycles, and use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot as a standard part of how we build. We hire for fundamentals, give engineers real ownership, and back them with a culture that respects deep work.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable Rust code.
  • Build and maintain APIs and microservices.
  • Integrate new services with existing systems and platforms.
  • Optimize performance across distributed architectures.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and help refine engineering standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
  • Improve observability, monitoring, and internal engineering tools.
  • Stay current with developments, best practices, and advancements in the Rust ecosystem.

  • Requirements

    • Strong proficiency in Rust programming, including ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, and asynchronous programming (e.g., Tokio, async/await).
    • Experience building backend services and APIs, ideally using Rust-based frameworks (Actix, Axum, Rocket) and microservice architectures.
    • Solid understanding of systems programming concepts such as memory management, concurrency, multithreading, and performance optimization.
    • Hands-on experience with databases and data storage (SQL/NoSQL, schema design, query optimization) and messaging/streaming systems is advantageous.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes) for deploying and operating services.
    • Knowledge of modern software development practices, including Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability tooling.
    • Ability to work closely with product, data, and AI teams to integrate Rust services into broader systems and to translate requirements into technical designs.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, clear written and verbal communication

    Benefits

    • Competitive salary and benefits package.
    • Work with experienced product and engineering leaders.
    • Flexible and remote-friendly work culture.
    • Opportunities for learning, mentorship, and career growth.
    • A chance to make a real impact across diverse, innovative projects.
