About Oil and Gas Technolo
gy: OGT is a team of around 200 scientists and engineers who develop and provide pioneering solutions to support bp's Production and Operations (P&O) and Gas and Low Carbon Energy (G&LCE) business

The Reservoir Recovery Unit sits in OGT team, part of Applied Sciences Technology. The team is part of the 60-strong Subsurface and Wells group, working closely with P&O to develop innovative technological solutions addressing both near- and longer-term challenges. The Reservoir Recovery Unit is the home of the Dynamic Displacement laboratory, which provides unique experimental capability and delivers data across waterflood/gasflood, special core analysis (SCAL, including relative permeability), enhanced oil recovery, production assurance (production chemistry) and Wells technol

ogy.
You will lead the Reservoir Recovery lab team, providing guidance, coaching, technical support and quality assurance to the SCAL and imaging scientists working in the lab, collaborating closely with the site and unit leads to provide smooth integrated lab operations and support to the busi

ness.
Job Purpose and primary objec

tives:You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Reservoir Recovery Dynamic displacement laboratory. You will work closely with the site leadership, the Unit Lead and collaborators in the business to ensure safe and timely delivery of experimental data in support of bp's regional opera

tions.
Key responsibilities i

  • nclude:Ensure lab safety compliance by owning and leading all safety aspects, aligning with bp's standards, and supporting equipment operators in adhering to Control of Work, Inspection & Maintenance, and Management of Change requir
  • ements.Be responsible for the laboratory work backlog, assigning studies and tasks across the team and experimental assets, while partnering with the Unit Lead to maintain a robust pipeline of futur
  • e work.Supervise the laboratory operating budget (OPEX) to ensure effective cost management and resource utili
  • zation.Collaborate with site leadership and engineering teams to ensure compliance with operational procedures and seek opportunities to drive workflow alignments across
  • teams.Drive continuous improvement in lab efficiency and data quality, including the development and implementation of automation solutions where appro
  • priate.Lead and develop the lab team by providing technical coaching and ment
  • orship.Maintain expertise in SCAL and relevant reservoir engineering practices, and share best practices with th
  • e team.Represent the laboratory in collaborator engagements, maintaining and enhancing the reputation of the Reservoir Recovery Unit both internally and exte
