Key responsibilities:
- Patient care: Provide continuous medical care for inpatients, including routine assessments, monitoring vital signs, and adjusting treatment plans under the supervision of consultants.
- Emergency response: Act as the first responder for medical emergencies, providing immediate care and stabilization while coordinating with senior specialists for advanced treatment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including patient histories, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Coordination: Serve as a liaison between patients, their families, nursing staff, and senior consultants. Ensure effective communication regarding treatment plans and patient progress.
- Clinical duties: Perform medical procedures, administer medications, and oversee the use of life support systems. Assist in surgeries when required.
- Administrative tasks: Handle admissions, discharges, and ensure compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and health and safety guidelines.
- Supervision: In larger hospitals, may be responsible for supervising and mentoring junior medical staff and interns.
