Role Description The Retail Sales Officer is a full-time, on-site role based at Punniamoorthi Pillai Department Store in Thanjavur. The role involves welcoming customers, understanding their needs, and recommending suitable products to support a positive shopping experience. Daily responsibilities include managing sales counters, processing billing, handling cash and digital payments, replenishing shelves, and maintaining product displays. The Retail Sales Officer also assists with basic inventory checks, supports promotional activities, and helps keep the store clean, safe, and orderly. This role requires active engagement with customers, collaboration with team members, and adherence to store policies and procedures.
Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills, including patience, approachability, and a focus on customer satisfaction.
• Sales operations and channel sales skills to manage in-store sales processes and support promotions or targeted sales initiatives.
• Effective communication skills to interact clearly with customers, colleagues, and supervisors, including basic record-keeping and reporting.
• Lead generation skills to identify potential repeat customers, encourage loyalty, and support store growth.
• Basic numeracy and comfort with handling cash, POS systems, and digital payment methods.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, move stock, and maintain store organization and hygiene.
• Prior experience in retail or customer-facing roles is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Minimum high school education or equivalent; familiarity with local language(s) and basic English is beneficial.
• Reliability, integrity, and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
