Role description
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager with a background in the jewellery industry, preferably in lab-grown or fine diamond jewellery. This role will oversee all non-sales operations, including production coordination, supply chain, inventory, and retail support, ensuring operational efficiency, product quality, and adherence to high security standards.
Key responsibilities -
Product Coordination
- Coordinate between the design team, external vendors, and internal karigars (craftsmen) to ensure timely and high-quality jewellery production
- Monitor production schedules, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure adherence to quality standards for metal purity, stone setting, and finishing
- Manage the movement and security of raw materials such as gold, diamonds, and precious stones throughout the production cycle
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely product availability
- Coordinate with finance teams on billing timelines, budgets, and payment schedules
- Ensure vendors and stakeholders adhere to agreed timelines, quality standards, and contractual terms
Supply Chain & Logistics
- Manage end-to-end logistics, including secure domestic and international shipping
- Oversee customs clearance, insurance, and documentation for high-value goods
Inventory & Security Management
- Lead physical and system-based inventory management across vaults, retail displays, consignments, and work-in-progress stock
- Ensure 100% inventory accuracy through regular audits and reconciliation with ERP systems
- Implement and enforce strict security protocols for storage, handling, and transit of high-value assets
Process & System Optimisation
- Identify operational gaps and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimise waste
- Oversee effective use of ERP or operations software for inventory, production tracking, and order fulfilment
- Ensure compliance with hallmarking standards, industry regulations, and internal policies
Retail & Sales Support
- Coordinate with retail teams on new collection launches, ensuring timely stock delivery and display readiness
- Manage repairs and returns processes, ensuring quick turnaround times and customer satisfaction
- Provide operational training and ongoing support to retail staff on inventory systems and internal procedures
Qualifications
- 24 years of experience in the jewellery industry (lab-grown or fine jewellery preferred)
- Strong attention to detail with a data-driven, process-oriented approach
- Experience managing multiple store locations or operational sites
- Ability to understand regional nuances and local operational requirements
- Strong communication, coordination, and vendor negotiation skills
