Job Description Retail Compliance Executive
Role Overview
The Retail Compliance Executive is responsible for managing statutory, legal, and regulatory compliance for all retail store operations. The role involves close coordination with landlords, legal teams, government authorities, and internal departments to ensure all stores operate fully compliant with applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Documentation & Coordination
Prepare LOIs (Letters of Intent) and assist in drafting, reviewing, and finalizing lease agreements.
Coordinate with the Legal team for agreement closures, clarifications, and compliance-related documentation.
Communicate and follow up with store landlords for agreement execution and other required documents.
2. Statutory Registrations & Licenses
Obtain and renew Shops & Establishment Certificates for all existing and new stores.
Manage APOB (Additional Place of Business) registrations under GST for store openings.
Apply for and renew Trade Licenses from local municipal authorities.
Handle Fire NOC applications, renewals, and inspections.
Process approvals and documentation for Signage Licenses for store branding and hoardings.
3. Labor & Tax Compliance
Ensure compliance with all labour laws, including maintaining statutory registers and submitting required filings.
Manage Professional Tax (PT) registrations, monthly/annual payments, and return filing.
Coordinate with internal HR and Finance teams to ensure timely completion of all labour-related compliances.
4. Compliance Monitoring & Record Management
Maintain accurate and updated records of all store-related statutory documents, licenses, and approvals.
Track due dates for renewals and ensure timely submissions to avoid penalties.
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary compliance documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Law, or related fields.
13 years of experience in retail compliance, statutory management, or store documentation.
Strong understanding of GST APOB, Shops & Establishment, Trade License, Fire NOCs, Signage permissions, labor compliance, and tax filings.
Excellent coordination, communication, and follow-up skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple store compliances simultaneously.
Work Requirements
Willingness to visit stores or government offices when needed.
Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and external agencies.
