Amgen is seeking an R&D Portfolio Forecasting and Analysis Manager to join the Research and Development Strategy and Operations organization. In this role, you will partner with the leads to support Development Teams and Functional Management with a resource demand forecast and supply analysis to enable effective operational planning & decision making. You will support stewardship of R&D resource algorithms to drive a systematic methodology and tool for forecasting functional resources in support of functional planning, portfolio management and process efficiency monitoring.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting resource management for one or more R&D subfunctions by:

Implementing and maintaining user requirements for milestone-based algorithms into the system of record - Planisware Portfolio Management (PPM) Implement and maintaining data into SAP based CapCity supply management systems to appropriately model the changes in functional supply Implementing and maintaining data in the CapCity product allocation module to help track product level supply allocation Deriving insight from timecoding data as it pertains to the overall resource algorithms used for demand forecasting Advanced data analysis of potential scenarios, business cases, or business impacts based on PPM modeling Assisting change control from newly launched resource management data dashboards by supporting new users with features and usability Supporting any data analysis or algorithm support needed by the broader strategic resource management team. Performing quality oversight to ensure integrity of resource forecasting outputs

Generating content and data needed for resource reviews at all levels of leadership based on current portfolio assumptions Acting as a data analyst for strategic resource management senior managers as needed

  • Helping to deliver on initiatives seeking to improve business processes or data management principles including but not limited to:

Delivering on data management principles ensuring an emphasis on implementation of simple, logical, and scalable solutions. Generating insight starting from any given complete data set Supporting the implementation of process enhancement efforts, within your supported subfunctions, which are aimed at at increasing forecast accuracy, operational efficiency, and system usability across planning tools and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS/BSc in the sciences or in management sciences (decision analysis, operations research, statistics, strategic planning), finance, economics, basic sciences, engineering or other majors with strong analytical focus
  • 1+ years work experience in life sciences or medically related field, including 5+ years of biopharmaceutical clinical product development
  • Strong knowledge of planning, forecasting, and data analysis
  • Some understanding of the drug development lifecycle, and/or portfolio management processes
  • Good understanding of how to learn something new
  • Experience with resourcing applications (Planisware Preferable)
  • Strong computer and system operation skills (Excel, Access, Spotfire, Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts to an equally technical audience.
