Job Description

TLDR: Project Staff and Intern Positions Available Building GNN Systems @ DREAM Lab, IISc.

Location: On-site, IISc Campus, Bengaluru
Duration: 6 to 12 months

Paid research intern (at least 6 months) and project staff (at least 1 year) positions are available in person at DREAM: Lab, Department of Computational and Data Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. We invite applications in the graphs group to work on systems for large-scale graph neural network training and inference. Join our team and contribute to pioneering research in this exciting field.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the team to analyse, strip down, and rethink the current state-of-the-art GNN training and inference frameworks.
- Assist in the development and implementation of low-latency, large-scale GNN inference systems.
- Collaborate with industry individuals to improve current financial fraud detection frameworks.

Qualifications:
- Final year (for internship) and Graduates (for staff) of BE/BTech/MTech in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline without other concurrent internships or academic commitments.
- 1-2 years of industry experience is strongly encouraged.
- Candidates should have strong programming skills in Python and experience working with large code bases.
- Experience with CUDA programming is a big plus.
- Familiarity with Linux, scripting, automation, debugging and plotting is expected.
- Foundational knowledge of machine learning concepts, especially a working knowledge of GNNs and a basic understanding of distributed training techniques.
- Those with demonstrated knowledge of machine learning frameworks like PyTorch/DGL/PyG are preferred.

Benefits: Successful candidates will work closely with post-graduate students to architect new algorithms and distributed platforms, develop software prototypes, run large-scale systems experiments, and publish research papers at leading venues. Past staff members have gone on to do higher studies abroad at top universities. The position also includes a modest monetary stipend.

Apply: The positions are open with a join date of Sept 1, 2025, and will be for a duration of at least 6 months for interns and at least 12 months for project staff. Designation and pay will be as per Government of India DST norms, and based on academic qualifications and work experience. This is a full-time in-person position at the IISc campus.
