Role Description The Research Intern will support the editorial team by identifying potential story subjects, gathering background information, and preparing research briefs. Day-to-day tasks include conducting online and archival research, reviewing interviews and transcripts, organizing notes, and synthesizing key themes that inform storytelling angles. The intern will collaborate with writers and editors to refine questions for interviews, fact-check narrative details, and ensure accuracy and context in published work. This is a remote internship role, offering flexibility while requiring reliable communication, self-management, and adherence to deadlines.

Qualifications

Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to locate credible sources and synthesize complex information clearly.
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to summarize findings and present them in a structured, concise format.
Attention to detail and accuracy, with care for fact-checking, source verification, and organized note-taking.
Interest in storytelling, journalism, or long-form narrative work, and sensitivity to representing people's experiences responsibly.
Comfort with remote collaboration tools and the ability to manage time, priorities, and deadlines independently.
Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree program in journalism, communications, humanities, social sciences, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
Prior experience in editorial work, content research, or qualitative research is a plus.
