Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Forward Deployed Research Engineer with strong expertise in Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing to work on a cutting-edge digital twin platform for industrial applications. This role combines hands-on engineering, field deployment, customer interaction, and product feedback to bridge research and real-world implementation.
You will operate at the intersection of software, hardware, and industrial systems, directly contributing to product quality, deployment success, and market adoption.
Key Responsibilities
1. Internal Engineering & Product Development
Conduct end-to-end software testing of the digital twin platform to identify bugs, edge cases, and performance issues before release.
Document defects clearly, track resolution, and identify potential failure points or leakage scenarios in the system.
Perform 3D data capture using scanners and sensor systems; set up and calibrate data acquisition pipelines.
Process and analyze captured data, including signal processing workflows relevant to mechanical systems.
Contribute domain expertise (mechanical systems + signal processing) to guide product improvements and technical direction.
Identify technical risks, system limitations, and emerging competition early in the development cycle.
Work on IoT system testing, validation, and integration across hardware and software layers.
Apply knowledge of process engineering and instrumentation to improve system fidelity and usability.
2. Field Deployment & Customer Engagement
Identify potential customers and industry partners for the digital twin platform.
Represent the company at conferences, technical events, and client meetings.
Support product demonstrations, pilot deployments, and technical discussions with stakeholders.
Gather customer feedback and translate it into actionable product insights.
3. Operations & Administrative Support
Maintain proper records of expenses, bills, and invoices related to travel and project activities.
Assist in invoicing processes and ensure documentation is organized and compliant.
Support basic operational tasks required for smooth execution of field and research activities.
Requirements
Background in Mechanical Engineering, Signal Processing, or a related field.
Experience with sensor systems, data acquisition, and physical system modeling.
Familiarity with 3D scanning, point cloud processing, or digital twin workflows is highly desirable.
Understanding of IoT systems, instrumentation, and industrial processes.
Strong analytical and debugging skills for software-hardware integrated systems.
Ability to work independently in field environments and research settings.
Willingness to travel to IIT Palakkad for XX days per month (mandatory).
Compensation & Terms
