Lead R&D Mechanical Engineer (Deep-Tech & Modular Systems)Location: [City, India]
Type: Full-Time | R&D
The MissionModulus Housing is not just building structures; we are manufacturing the future of habitat. We are moving away from construction and toward automated product assembly. We are looking for a visionary Mechanical Engineer to spearhead the development of revolutionary modular systems, including extrudable volumetric concrete pods and high-performance structural insulated steel panels (SIPs).
This role is for a high-agency builder who thrives in the zero-to-one phase and wants to leave a dent in the global housing crisis through deep-tech innovation.
Core Responsibilities: Drive Growth & Innovation- Product Architecture: Lead the end-to-end design of modular products, treating a building like a sophisticated hardware product (DFA/DFM mindset).
- R&D Execution: Own the development of our proprietary Extrudable Concrete Pods. You will solve complex problems involving material flow, extrusion mechanics, and structural integrity.
- Advanced Enclosure Systems: Design and iterate on a next-generation Structural Insulated Steel Panel (SISP) system that optimizes for thermal efficiency, weight reduction, and rapid interlocking.
- Prototyping & Testing: Move fast from CAD to physical reality. Build, break, and refine prototypes in our lab to validate structural and thermal performance.
- Process Automation: Collaborate with robotics and automation teams to ensure that every product designed is 100% compatible with automated factory assembly.
The Ideal SkillsetWe are looking for a rare blend of theoretical depth and greasy hands practicality:
- Deep-Tech Expertise: Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics (for concrete flow), and structural mechanics (FEA/CFD).
- Product Development Mindset: Experience in a high-iteration environment (Aerospace, EVs, or Robotics) rather than traditional MEP or Civil sectors.
- Material Science Curious: Familiarity with the behavior of non-Newtonian fluids (concrete) or advanced composites/steel alloys.
- High Agency: You don't wait for a roadmap. You identify bottlenecks, propose solutions, and execute without being micro-managed.
Tools & Tech Stack- Expert Level CAD: Mastery of SolidWorks, Catia, or Autodesk Inventor (including sheet metal and large assembly management).
- Simulation: Proficiency in ANSYS, Abaqus, or SimScale for structural (FEA) and thermal analysis.
- Rapid Prototyping: Experience with CNC machining, 3D printing, or custom jig fabrication.
- Project Management: Proficiency with Jira, Notion, or Slack to maintain a high-velocity R&D pace.
Why Join Us- Build the Impossible: Work on extrudable volumetric tech—a field that is currently at the global bleeding edge of R&D.
- Ownership: You aren't a cog in a machine; you are the architect of the machine.
- Impact: Your designs will directly influence how millions of people live and how fast we can build sustainable cities in India and beyond.
