Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Research Associate with 02 years of laboratory experience to support our work at the Bangalore Bioinnovation Center.

The role will involve both wet-lab experimentation and dry-lab documentation, working closely with the founding team and scientific advisors on developing biocomposites from waste streams.

Role Description

Wet Lab

  • Preparation and maintenance of fungal cultures (e.g., Ganoderma, Pleurotus and related strains).
  • Media preparation, sterilization, and aseptic handling of cultures.
  • Routine microbiology lab operations using autoclave, laminar flow cabinet, incubators, analytical balance, and related equipment.
  • Assistance in substrate preparation , inoculation and end-to-end process for development of biocomposites

Dry Lab

  • Systematic documentation of experimental protocols and results.
  • Maintaining lab records, datasets, and photographic documentation of growth experiments.
  • Supporting preparation of research notes, experimental logs, and internal reports.

Required Qualifications

  • B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Mycology, Microbiology , Biotechnology, , Biochemistry, or related Life Sciences.
  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques, sterilization, and microbiological culture handling.
  • Familiarity with standard microbiology equipment and lab protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and adherence to safety practices.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience working with fungal cultures or mushroom cultivation (e.g., Ganoderma, Pleurotus, or other basidiomycetes).
  • 12 years of practical laboratory experience (academic lab, research project, or startup environment).
  • Exposure to biocomposites, fermentation, biomaterials, or bio-based material research.
  • Prior experience in mushroom growing or fungal strain maintenance is an added advantage.

  • Highly motivated individual with strong curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to prioritize learning and experimentation in an early-stage startup environment.

What You Get

  • Contract: 6 months (with scope for extension).
  • Stipend: 20,00025,000/month (gross, based on qualifications and experience).
