Subhas Chandra Bose Chair on International Relations

School of Law, Governance and Public Policy (SLGPP), Chanakya University, Bengaluru

The Subhas Chandra Bose Chair on International Relations is a pioneering initiative that brings a distinctive Indian perspective to the study and practice of 21st-century international relations. Anchored in India's strategic culture, the Chair seeks to foster interdisciplinary scholarship, promote policy innovation, and contribute to the development of an Indian conceptual vocabulary for global affairs.

An initiative of the School of Law, Governance and Public Policy, Chanakya University, the Chair focuses on Asia, with special emphasis on India's neighbourhood and extended neighbourhood. Its research agenda explores issues relating to regional cooperation, geoeconomics, trade and connectivity, borderland studies, development partnerships, economic statecraft, and the evolving strategic landscape of South Asia and the Indo-Pacific. The Chair invites applications for the position of Research Associate (Economics).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake research on neighbourhood studies, regional economic integration, and geoeconomic issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of policy briefs, working papers, research articles, and reports.
  • Compile and analyse economic and strategic datasets.
  • Monitor developments relating to India's Neighbourhood First policy and regional cooperation initiatives.
  • Support the organisation of conferences, workshops, lectures, and outreach activities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • PhD/Master's degree in economics, Development Economics, International Economics, Public Policy, or a related discipline from a recognised university.
  • Demonstrated interest in international political economy, development studies, regional economics, or strategic affairs.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and academic writing skills.

Desirable:

  • Ph.D.
  • Experience in policy research, think tanks, universities, or government projects.
  • Familiarity with quantitative research methods and statistical software.

Appointment

  • Full-time position.
  • Initial appointment for one year (extendable based on performance and project requirements).
  • Remuneration commensurate with qualifications and experience.
