About The University

Swansea University is a research-led university that has been making a difference since 1920. The University community thrives on exploration and discovery and offers the right balance of excellent teaching and research, matched by an enviable quality of life.

Our stunning waterfront campuses and multicultural community make us a desirable workplace for colleagues from around the world. Our reward and benefits, and ways of working enable those who join us to have enriching careers, matched by an excellent work-life balance.

About The Role

The electron spin properties of ground and excited state levels in molecular semiconductors dictate the photophysics in optoelectronic, photonic and quantum technologies. The researcher will advance our work on singlet-triplet and doublet emitters to unlock new optical and magnetic properties (Nature Communications 2022, Nature 2023, JPCL 2024, Nature Photonics 2024). Time-resolved spectroscopy (fs-s TA and TrPL) and magnetic field effect studies will characterise the exciton and spin dynamics.

This project is hosted by and use the full facilities of the new Centre for Integrative Semiconductor Materials (CISM) Swansea University's flagship 55M facility for advanced semiconductor research and development. The position is based within the Spin-Optical Materials Group led by Prof Emrys Evans. SOM Lab
