Research Assistant / Research Associate (Robotics & System Development)
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop robotic subsystems including locomotion, manipulation, deployment-retrieval, and material handling mechanisms.
- Develop CAD models, digital prototypes and simulations.
- Design and integrate sensors, actuators, embedded systems, and electromechanical components.
- Development of robotics base platforms, adaptive grippers, robotic manipulators, conveyor systems, and stacking mechanisms.
- Develop digital twin development and simulation validation activities.
- Conduct engineering analysis including structural, kinematic, dynamic, and load-bearing assessments.
- Develop and assemble laboratory prototypes and testbeds.
- Conduct subsystem and system-level testing, validation, troubleshooting, and performance evaluation.
- Work closely with stakeholders, end users, industry partners and multidisciplinary research teams.
Preferred Skills
- Mechanical design and CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, NX).
- Robotics and automation systems.
- Mechatronics and electromechanical integration.
- Sensors, actuators, embedded systems.
- Virtual simulations (Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, CoppeliaSim), physics modelling and proof of concept
- Prototype development and laboratory testing.
- System integration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with ROS, robotic manipulators, or mobile robots is advantageous.
The successful candidate will contribute to the conceptual designs, development, integration, and validation of robotic and automation technologies. The role focuses on mechanical, mechatronic, electromechanical, sensing, and system integration aspects, supporting the development of novel robotic systems capable of handling, moving, and stacking various materials of different shapes, sizes, and weights within confined spaces.
