Role OverviewThe R&D Engineer will drive the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of electric vehicles and subsystems, ensuring high performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Development- Design and develop EVs, Application Oriented EV's, aggregates, and sub-systems
- Create 2D/3D models, BOMs, and engineering documentation
- Translate concepts into manufacturable products
Research & Innovation- Identify improvements in performance, durability, and cost
- Study market trends and emerging EV technologies
- Develop practical, innovative engineering solutions
Testing & Validation- Plan and execute component and vehicle-level testing
- Conduct durability, load, and field trials
- Analyze results and implement design corrections
Cost Optimization- Drive value engineering and cost reduction initiatives
- Optimize materials and design efficiency
- Support product costing and budgeting
Cross-Functional Support- Work closely with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Service teams
- Ensure smooth transition from R&D to manufacturing
- Resolve field issues through design improvements
Documentation & Compliance- Maintain drawings, BOMs, and revision control
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Prepare reports for design reviews
Continuous Improvement- Standardize designs and develop modular systems
- Perform root cause analysis and failure investigation
- Implement CAPA actions
Required Skills- Strong fundamentals in mechanical/electrical design
- Experience in product development lifecycle
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Knowledge of EV systems (battery, motor, controller)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing setup
Qualifications- B.E / B.Tech – Mechanical / Automobile
- 5-7 years experience preferred
