Job Purpose

  • Execution of research projects under SCALE (including research conception, design, analysis, report writing. Etc)
  • Support writing of peer- reviewed articles, non-academic white papers, unpublished technical reports, management briefs, opinion and editorial pieces from research projects.
  • Responsible for developing and overseeing trial protocols, coordinating data collection,
  • Conduct literature reviews, evidence syntheses, policy scans, and secondary-data analysis.
  • Support in translating research findings into relevant policy documents, industry partner engagement and actionable insights.

Job Outline

The Research Associate position provides an excellent opportunity to gain extensive hands‐on field research experience and significant management responsibility in senior care project.

The Research Associate will be responsible for (i) overseeing the implementation of research protocols, (ii) overseeing collection of program data, (iii) training and managing survey teams, (iv) supervising logistics for field activities, (v) cleaning and analyzing survey data, (vi) assisting in the writing of project reports and policy memos, (viii) Monitoring and reviewing databases and rectifying errors or inconsistencies. The work will enhance your research, analytical and management skills and require your full commitment in a challenging environment.

About the project: Senior Care Advancement through Learning and Evidence (SCALE) is the first of its new research initiative at MIHM, ISB. Supported by Max India Foundation and onboarding Antara Senior Living as its founding industry partner, the initiative aims to generate new knowledge on India's rapidly growing elderly population. The initiative will explore across areas such as healthcare delivery models for elderly, financing and insurance for elderly, digital inclusion of elderly, and the elderly as consumers and producers, through rigorous academic research, industry and policy engagements. The Initiative aims to generate research insights for scalable, sustainable, and equitable elderly care frameworks relevant to India's unique socio-cultural and economic context. The initiative is an important pillar within MIHM, all research, partnerships, and outreach efforts reinforces MIHM's broader mission and long-term vision.

Desirable Experience

  1. Master's degree in public health/economics / public policy/epidemiology / population studies/ development studies/ ageing studies/ sociology of ageing experience
  2. Graduates from other disciplines (senior care, social protection, health financing, technology) may also be considered if they have relevant experience and can demonstrate the relevant skills

  1. Excellent project management and organizational skills
  2. Meticulous attention to detail
  3. Ability to plan tasks for teams, monitor progress, make corrections to plans
  4. Strong budget management skills required
  5. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  6. Capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  7. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in (1) English, and (2) Hindi
  9. Strong knowledge of mixed methods, statistical software (R/STATA/SPSS), Qualitative Softwares (NVIVO or Qualtrics), programming and other technical knowledge is a strong plus
  10. Ability to coordinate and manage ethics review processes, including IRB submissions, protocol amendments, participant documentation, and compliance tracking.
  11. Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with partner organizations
  12. Maintain systematic records of stakeholder interactions, project deliverables and partnership commitments.
  13. Willingness to frequently travel within study site

1. At least 2 years of work experience, preferably in healthcare

2. Candidates with prior experience with implementation/ action-oriented research, policy analysis and rapid reviews.

3. Prior research experience in ageing, senior care, gerotechnology and any other relevant elderly care domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical support for research projects (research design, approvals, protocols, data analysis, scientific writing, etc.)
  • Liaise with stakeholders such as industry partners, development agencies and health ministries to access contextual data and insights.
  • Support the dissemination of research outputs by developing clear and impactful knowledge products, including reports, presentations, policy briefs, blogs, and research publications, in collaboration with project leads.
