Job Description

Purpose

India faces a multi-faceted challenge as it aims to become a developed country by 2047. To achieve this, the nation's food system must simultaneously deliver on environmental sustainability, resilient livelihoods, and improved nutrition. While leading food and beverage companies are setting ambitious net-zero and ESG targets,holistic food systemtransformation has yet to becomecentral to that journey.

To address this gap, CEEW is establishing the Coalition for Sustainable Food Systems 2045. This initiative is designed to catalyse and scale voluntary, outcome-based actions within the private sector. It seeks to bring coherence to the sustainable sourcing agenda, elevate nutrition as a corporate priority, and align India's sector with global disclosure and reporting requirements.

Supported by harmonised frameworks to monitor progress,the coalition aims to drive a

private-sector-led transformation that is ambitious, transparent, and aligned with global standards.

In this context, CEEW seeks a Research Analyst who will assist the team in driving rigorous quantitative and qualitative analyses to shape actionable policy insights and recommendations.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined below, the Research Analyst should be prepared to take on additional responsibilities and respond agilely to unanticipated events and developments.

  1. Job duties and accountabilities
  • Manage relationships with diverse stakeholders, ensuring a balance between incorporating varied inputs and maintaining strategic focus.
  • Cultivate strong, multi-level professional connections with partners through an approachable and engaging presence.
  • Represent CEEW at leading conferences and forums to foster relationships, identify

high-value collaboration opportunities, and actively pitch the coalition's work to external partners to expand the program's reach and impact.

  • Maintain real-time awareness of dynamic trends in the corporate and regulatory landscape, as well as developments within the sustainable food space. Proactively identify strategic insights, potential bottlenecks, and future stakeholder needs to ensure the project remains ahead of the curve.
  • Deliver high-quality outputs with rapid turnaround times, including meeting minutes, presentation decks, and quantitative modeling. Conduct pragmatic research to support decision-making, ensuring that insights are actionable and timely.
  • Execute emissions mapping of corporate value chains, market research, and analysis. Develop estimations to inform business case development and provide strong quantitative-based evidence for the coalition's work.
  • Demonstrate leadership by initiative within the team, contributing innovative ideas and fostering a collaborative environment to drive collective success.
  • Travel to field sites, whenever necessary, to conduct primary research, including focus group discussions, interviews, meetings, training, or data collection.
  • Proactively support the team in effectively operationalising the CEEW's Arc of Learning.
  • Write high-quality research reports, publish in leading peer-reviewed journals, and generate other knowledge products for diverse audiences, such as blogs and policy briefs, at regular intervals.
