Role Overview
Bharat Coal Exchange is seeking an experienced
Research & Strategy Manager to lead strategic research initiatives and support business growth across the coal value chain. The ideal candidate will possess deep domain knowledge of the
coal industry, combined with strong analytical, business strategy, and stakeholder management capabilities.
The role requires working closely with senior leadership to identify growth opportunities, evaluate market dynamics, support policy and regulatory initiatives, and drive strategic decision-making. The incumbent will play a key role in shaping BCX's long-term business strategy while managing critical research and consulting assignments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Research & Market Intelligence
- Lead comprehensive market, industry, and competitor research across the coal and energy ecosystem.
- Analyze domestic and international coal markets, pricing trends, demand-supply dynamics, imports, logistics, and regulatory developments.
- Develop strategic insights and actionable recommendations for business leadership.
- Publish market intelligence reports, sector outlooks, and opportunity assessments.
- Track government policies, regulatory changes, commercial mechanisms, and industry developments impacting the coal sector.
Business Strategy & Growth
- Drive the formulation and execution of corporate and business strategies.
- Lead feasibility studies, commercial assessments, business case development, and market entry strategies.
- Identify new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and revenue streams.
- Support leadership in evaluating investments, expansion opportunities, and new business models.
- Prepare strategic roadmaps and monitor implementation of key initiatives.
Research & Business Documentation
- Develop high-quality strategy papers, market reports, business proposals, and concept notes.
- Prepare Board presentations, management reports, executive summaries, and policy documents.
- Draft investor presentations, business cases, discussion papers, and knowledge reports.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and professional quality across all strategic documentation.
Stakeholder & Consultant Management
- Manage engagements with industry consultants, research partners, and advisory firms.
- Coordinate with government agencies, coal companies, logistics partners, industry associations, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in strategic discussions, workshops, and industry forums whenever required.
- Drive follow-ups and ensure timely execution of strategic initiatives.
Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with business, commercial, technology, regulatory, and operations teams on strategic projects.
- Guide junior analysts and researchers on research methodologies and documentation standards.
- Present research findings and strategic recommendations to senior management.
- Foster a culture of structured problem-solving and data-driven decision-making.
Education
- MBA/PGDM from a reputed institute (IIMs or other premier B-Schools preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mining, Business, Economics, Energy Management, or a related discipline.
