Job Description
About The Company
Turing is one of the world's fastest-growing artificial intelligence companies dedicated to accelerating the development and deployment of advanced AI systems. With a focus on innovative solutions, Turing empowers organizations to leverage cutting-edge AI technologies for a variety of applications. The company fosters a dynamic and collaborative environment where talented professionals can contribute to groundbreaking projects that shape the future of AI and software engineering. Turing's commitment to excellence and innovation positions it as a leader in the AI industry, offering opportunities for growth and impactful work across global markets.
About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our team for a pioneering project focused on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves working with high-quality public GitHub repositories to develop verifiable software engineering tasks based on real-world repository histories. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, particularly with open-source projects, and will play a key role in automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the advancement of AI systems that interact with complex software code, influencing future innovations in AI-assisted software development.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with proficiency in at least one programming language such as Ruby. Experience with version control systems like Git, containerization tools like Docker, and familiarity with setting up software pipelines are essential. Candidates should be comfortable navigating and understanding complex codebases, running and modifying projects locally, and contributing to open-source repositories. Prior experience in LLM research, evaluation projects, or developing developer tools is considered a plus. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment are also required.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will analyze and triage issues from trending open-source libraries hosted on GitHub, ensuring the quality and relevance of datasets for AI training. You will set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup, to facilitate testing and evaluation. Your tasks will include assessing unit test coverage and quality, modifying codebases locally, and running tests to evaluate LLM performance in bug-fixing scenarios. You will collaborate closely with researchers to identify repositories and issues that present challenges for LLMs, helping to design datasets that improve model robustness. Additionally, there are opportunities to lead junior engineers, guiding their contributions and fostering a collaborative team environment.
Benefits
Joining Turing provides the flexibility of a fully remote work environment, allowing you to work from anywhere. You will have the chance to contribute to cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading LLM companies, gaining valuable experience at the forefront of AI research and development. The role offers flexible time commitments, with options for 20, 30, or 40 hours per week, accommodating different schedules and commitments. As a contractor, you will have access to a global network of talented professionals, with opportunities for professional growth and the chance to make a tangible impact in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. Turing's platform also offers support for continuous learning and collaboration with a diverse community of experts.
Equal Opportunity
Turing is committed to creating an inclusive and diverse work environment. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer that values and respects all individuals, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, age, religion, disability, or sexual orientation. We believe that diverse perspectives foster innovation and drive better outcomes. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply and join our mission to advance AI technology for the benefit of society.
