Job Description

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Release Management:
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute software releases across multiple environments (development, staging, production).
  • Manage the entire release lifecycle, including build, test, deploy, and post-release activities.
  • Create and maintain release plans that align with development and product teams to ensure that releases happen on time.
  • Track release timelines, monitor progress, and ensure all tasks are completed according to schedule.
  • Automation & Continuous Integration:
  • Implement, manage, and optimize Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, Travis CI, etc.
  • Automate and streamline the build and deployment process to minimize manual interventions and improve consistency.
  • Create and manage build scripts and configuration files to support the build automation process.
  • Version Control & Configuration Management:
  • Ensure that the versioning of releases is correctly managed using version control systems like Git, SVN, or Mercurial.
  • Work closely with developers and system administrators to ensure that all configurations (e.g., deployment scripts, environment settings) are correct and stored in version control.
  • Resolve any versioning or configuration-related issues during the release process.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with development, QA, and product teams to ensure that release requirements are well understood and met.
  • Communicate release schedules, status updates, and deployment instructions to stakeholders (product managers, operations, etc.).
  • Participate in change management and ensure that the release process complies with internal guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Troubleshooting & Incident Management:
  • Address and resolve any issues that arise during the release process, such as build failures, deployment errors, or conflicts between environments.
  • Provide support for post-release issues and collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve production problems.
  • Coordinate with IT and systems teams to troubleshoot deployment-related incidents and maintain the stability of production environments.
  • Environment Management:
  • Manage and maintain the environments used for release processes (e.g., development, staging, production), ensuring they are correctly configured and aligned with release requirements.
  • Set up and maintain the test environments for continuous testing of code changes before they are deployed to production.
  • Metrics & Continuous Improvement:
  • Track key release metrics (e.g., release frequency, deployment success rate, lead time to production) to identify opportunities for improving the release process.
  • Propose and implement process improvements to optimize the release workflow, reduce errors, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Continuously monitor and improve the deployment process, ensuring releases are delivered efficiently and with minimal risk.
