PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The primary purpose of the role is to plan, direct and control the Government (Central & States at the ministry/secretariat level) and PSUs relationship-based banking activities of the Bank under the supervisions and direction of Team Leader. The position plays a key role in developing and maintaining strategic relationships with stakeholders in the various government ministries/committees/autonomous bodies.

- Acquiring new clients & managing a portfolio of Government clients (Central + State PSU's)
- Ensure a strong relationship with existing accounts.
- Focus on offering financial solutions & cross selling.
- Actively and consistently seek an opportunity to expand share of wallet of the customer base
- Build knowledge of all the products being offered to customers.
- Maintain ongoing contact with operations in order to ensure smooth delivery of transactions
- Implement marketing plans.
- Assist the Relationship Management Group in research and analysis on industries/clients/markets
- Prepare credit approval/renewal memorandum, generate risk analysis reports on the client portfolio
- Articulation of customer requirements to the product teams and work closely for product development to ensure customer needs are met
- Co-ordinate with financial markets, investment banking and retail banking teams to ensure synergies in cross selling products to government/PSU customers
- Responsible for management/recovery/NPAs for this cluster of customers
- Determining the skills and manning levels required for effective delivery of services
Essential Competencies
- Good network and knowledge of the working of the GOI/State Governments/PSUs and nuances of relationship management with key influencers in the bureaucracy
- Knowledge of government banking marketing concepts & experience in developing, launching and scaling up funded/advisory product lines
- Entrepreneurial thinking
- Demonstrated ability to drive results and be very effective in a matrix organisation
- Understanding of technology in banking
Experience
Essential: 6-8 years of banking experience of which at least 3-4 years should be in Government Banking in client account management.
Preferred: Experience handling Government clients
