About The Opportunity
Opportunity within the private healthcare sector, serving tertiary-care surgical services across inpatient, emergency and operating-theatre settings in India. The role sits in a high-volume general surgery unit delivering elective and emergency surgical care, perioperative management, and multidisciplinary critical-care coordination.
Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive clinical care for elective and emergency general surgery patientsadmissions, preoperative assessment, intraoperative management, and postoperative follow-up.
- Perform and assist common general surgical procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, bowel resection and other open/laparoscopic interventions as required.
- Lead on-call rotas and emergency theatre responses: triage acute abdomen and trauma, initiate resuscitation, coordinate with anaesthesia and ICU teams, and escalate appropriately.
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors and surgical trainees; run ward rounds, review investigations, and ensure timely documentation and handovers.
- Maintain high standards of operative documentation, discharge summaries and consent processes; participate in morbidity & mortality reviews and clinical audit activities.
- Ensure adherence to clinical governance, infection-control protocols, perioperative safety checklists and hospital policies to minimise complications and improve outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- MBBS with MS/DNB (General Surgery) or equivalent postgraduate surgical qualification.
- Valid medical registration with the appropriate State Medical Council / National Medical Commission (NMC).
- Prior registrar-level experience in a high-volume general surgery unit or equivalent clinical exposure in elective and emergency surgery preferred.
