About The Role

Statutory Nursing Qualification required. The post holder must be of a caring nature and sympathetic to the needs of patients. The post holder must have the ability to work with colleagues from a variety of disciplines The post holder is responsible, as part of the multi-disciplinary team, for the assessment of care needs, the planning and development of nursing programmes of Specialist Palliative Care/Hospital Based Complex Clinical Care and/or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes.

The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and may be required to demonstrate procedures to supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff including basic and/or post basic learners. The post holder may be required to take charge of the ward/department as a necessary part of role development.

It is the responsibility of the Registered Nurse (Nights) to:

  • Ensure the implementation of the Hospice Ethos and Core Values in practice.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the importance of etiquette and good conduct within the Hospice environment.
  • Ensure an effective delivery of nursing care is provided to patients and that the highest standard of care is maintained.
  • Provide, through Hospice policies, a safe environment for the treatment of patients and protection of staff.
  • Participate in education and training programmes as required.
  • Participate in rotation and redeployment of staff as required.
  • Implement all policies, procedures and practices as introduced at Induction, Mandatory Training and throughout mentorship experience.
  • Undertake all duties in accordance with legislation, Hospice philosophy and recognised professional standards and guidelines.
