Job Description

The position ensures compliance with South Asia Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental regulations, provides structured EHS leadership, and prepares the organization for evolving environmental, emotional, and psychosocial health regulations. It acts as the primary EHS reference for South Asia and provides interim coordination for LATAM (until 2027), collaborating with operations, HR, leadership, and external partners to uphold safety, occupational health, environmental, and sustainability standards. This role supports sustainability initiatives across South Asia, LATAM, Bangladesh, and Myanmar, ensuring timely submission of sustainability data.

1. EHS Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent Regional EHS within the South Asia region and global core team, while providing interim oversight for LATAM.
  • Set EHS strategies, standards, and procedures reflecting best practices across South Asia and LATAM.
  • Review EHS programs with a focus on South Asia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and interim LATAM coverage.

2. Regional EHS Program Management

  • Provide oversight, coordination, direction, and support to execute EHS program objectives and initiatives across South Asia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and LATAM (interim).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, update, and implement EHS policies, programs, processes, and procedures.
  • Define, track, and report KPIs/OKRs to evaluate program effectiveness, drive data-driven decisions, and continuous improvement globally.
  • Coordinate internal/external audits in partnership with global and location EHS teams.

3. Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Programs, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with South Asia (including India, Bangladesh, Myanmar) and LATAM (interim) SHE legislation and environmental regulations.
  • Lead and implement execution, monitoring, and closure of action plans derived from mandatory legal reports and risk assessments.
  • Conduct frequent on-site inspections and audits, ensuring practical and timely corrective actions.
  • Act as the main interface with regulatory authorities, auditors, and external inspectors when required.

4. Third-Party & Partner Management

  • Identify, onboard, and manage reliable EHS service providers across South Asia and LATAM (interim), ensuring clear accountability and execution standards.
  • Work with HR and occupational health partners to review high-risk tasks and develop physical check-up programs during onboarding and annual exams.
  • Challenge and improve third-party deliverables to ensure they translate into real operational improvements beyond documentation.

5. Operational Support

  • Provide hands-on EHS support to operational teams, adapting practices to diverse and highly operational environments across South Asia and LATAM.
  • Promote risk awareness and a preventive safety culture across sites.
  • Support incident investigation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

6. Regulatory & Future Readiness

  • Partner with HR to support mental health, well-being, and psychosocial risk initiatives across regions.
  • Ensure consistent documentation, reporting, and governance aligned with local and global standards.

7. Sustainability Initiatives

  • Support sustainability projects and initiatives across South Asia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and LATAM (interim).
  • Align sustainability goals with corporate and regional expectations, ensuring measurable progress.
  • Track and report sustainability performance metrics.

8. Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Communicate clearly and assertively with employees, leaders, and external partners to ensure compliance and engagement.
  • Serve as the EHS focal point for South Asia and interim LATAM, ensuring alignment with regional and global expectations.
  • Deliver training, awareness sessions, and guidance in English (additional regional languages preferred).

Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience , Skills)

Background

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

Knowledge of India, Bangladesh and Myanmar labor legislation, NR standards, and environmental regulations, desirable.

Proven experience in executing and following up SHE action plans, not only designing them.

Experience working with third-party SHE providers and medical clinics.

Advanced English (mandatory).

Availability to travel for frequent on-site presence.
