Job Purpose

To pro-actively contribute to the implementation of the retail strategy and implement projects and trials for the region by handling business, retail operations and people management. Ensure delivery and compliance of exceptional operational standards, support the management of customer service activities and staff competence so as to optimise and sustain sales performance and customer satisfaction

Job Context & Major Challenges

Department store environment today is fiercely competitive which allows the customers to evaluate multiple brands at the same time before making their purchase decision. In order to succeed in this environment a brand needs to offer superior value and experience in all aspects like the retail identity and brand experience with respect to the aesthetics and brand identity, product quality and relevant collections, visual merchandising, value for money, competitive pricing and promotions, best in class customer service etc. It boils down to the value offered for the money taking a host of factors into account.

Key Challenges

  • Effectively managing the team, keeping them motivated and acting as a role model for them
  • Effectively manage the P&L within allocated budget in order to effect a profitable performance for the Area
  • Ensuring that all stores adhere to compliance requirements in all areas of operational activity, company policies and procedures
  • Liaison with various teams like B&M, VM, projects, retail HR, vendors, DS partners buying, and operations teams, logistics etc. internal as well as external.

KRA1 Tapping Business potential for the Region

  • Footfall generation- Prepares a quarter wise footfall generation activity plan for the stores. Ensures that every store gets appropriate support
  • Create Store business plan in consultation with AI and team. Co-ordinate with HO to ensure appropriate support for execution

KRA2

  • Competition Analysis- Analyse the competition information to build up a picture of competition strategy. Identify emerging opportunities / threats due to competition action. Recommend actions to benefit from the emerging trends Network with competition staff in the region to better understand the competition environment and validation of numbers / trends

KRA3 DS Partner Management

  • Manage the relationship with the DS partners buying and operations teams from a business point of view
  • Manage conflicts

KRA4 SOP Compliance

  • Monitor the AI store SOP reports. Pick up reoccurring trends at the stores

KRA5 Merchandize Management

  • Monitor the inventory reports and take necessary actions. Pick up reoccurring trends at the stores

KRA6 VM

  • Monitor the effectiveness of VM arrangement at outlets and recommends changes

KRA7 Store Operations

  • Analyze quality of staff and reporting, study patterns if any.
  • Monitor operations & Ensure compliance adherence wrt Stock Management, staff attendance. Suggest changes to the process as and when required to ensure 100% compliance.
  • New Store opening - Design the SIS layout and track store launch/ opening process to ensure there are no glitches. Monitor new store performance with required handholding for first 3 months.

KRA8 Understanding Consumer needs

  • Information Collection Analyse the stores customer base to arrive at the appropriate merchandising strategy for the store and pass on the information to B&M team to ensure the buying for the stores happens accordingly
  • Information Analysis - Suggest ways for better customer service. Give customer insight to the stores for business improvement at store level. Ensure understanding of consumer trend to the ARM and store teams.

KRA9 Team Management

  • Recruitment- Hire AI under DS Head's guidance
  • AI appraisal/ performance review
  • Identify structural issues to motivation
  • Sales Targets- Set weekly targets for the AIs and stores based on the market trend, expectation of monthly business from his region, and ARM views
  • Training- To decide on training priorities. Prepare modules for training, make a training calendar for implementation
