Job Description

Location: Chennai

Position: Regional EHS Officer – South Region

Mode of Employment: Full-time

Functional Area: EHS, Project Management

What are my responsibilities

  • Support the Buildings Southern Regional Management in maintaining an effective EHS Management System, including processes for effective planning, organization, control, monitoring, review, and maintenance of preventive and corrective measures.
  • As the Buildings EHS Regional Officer, you will lead a team of 10 to 20 EHS officers/EHS MiP/Site EHS/Stewards/Contractor EHS officers. You shall maintain the EHS organization in the region and improve the competency of team members by driving their professional and personal development.
  • Actively drive the integration of EHS aspects into business processes and PM@Siemens quality gates. Participate in the bid phase of service/project orders to understand customer EHS requirements (equipment, competency, training, experience, PTW/LOTO, etc.) and accordingly plan execution with the business.
  • Maintain and foster collaboration with RC IN EHS, P&O EHS, SI EHS, B EHS, and other EHS teams.
  • Ensure implementation of Siemens EHS KPI reporting systems (EHS dashboards, incident investigations, Quentic, etc.) across all sites, with a strong focus on monitoring and continual improvement.
  • Regularly visit service/project sites, interact with customers, subcontractors, and project teams on EHS topics, and ensure compliance with agreed protocols and requirements.
  • Carry out site risk assessments, contractor evaluations, and qualifications in accordance with defined processes.
  • Engage and interface with site teams and subcontractors at various sites and ensure adherence to EHS processes through direct intervention.
  • Identify, conduct, and facilitate EHS training for Siemens and service partner manpower, and evaluate the effectiveness of such training.
  • Conduct periodic site assessments and drive the implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for areas of improvement.
  • Plan and maintain, in coordination with the BU EHS Officer, adequate and competent EHS resources at sites to execute the defined scope of work safely.
  • Report to the Buildings BU EHS Officer and Regional Operations Manager on EHS-related topics.

What do I need to qualify for this job

Experience

Overall 15–20 years of successful industry experience in driving EHS system implementation, project management, or facility management.

Minimum 5–10 years of hands-on experience in the EHS domain, driving and implementing EHS systems.

Experience in managing safety teams at complex project/service sites (Operation & Maintenance) will be an added advantage.

Education & Training

Basic qualification: Degree/Diploma in Engineering or Science.

Professional qualification: Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety or B.Tech/M.Tech in Safety. NEBOSH IGC is an added advantage.

Demonstrated training/expertise in a broad spectrum of EHS topics.

Expert-level knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems and experience in implementing/managing their elements.

Additional Qualifications

Excellent team player with strong stakeholder management skills.

Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills; ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team of safety professionals to achieve goals.

Willingness to undertake frequent travel across sites in the region and relocate within India as per project requirements. #SL
