Regional Business Technology Manager - Gas, Power & Renewables

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of gas, power, and renewables commodity trading, including trade lifecycle, scheduling, nominations, transport, storage, and settlement processes. Understanding of PnL impacts across the GPR value chain

• ETRM Platform Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with top-tier ETRM/CTRM systems such as Allegro, Endur, including configuration, customisation, and implementation

• Back Office & Settlement Functions: Strong understanding of back-office operations, regulatory reporting requirements, and settlement processes within gas and power trading

• System Integration: Proven experience integrating ETRM platforms with complementary systems including risk management, scheduling, settlements, regulatory reporting, and ERP systems. Understanding of integration patterns, APIs, and data flows

• Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop regional BA/functional teams across multiple locations and time zones

• Technical Communication: Strong capability to communicate effectively with highly technical developers located in remote offices, business stakeholders, and senior management, translating complex business requirements into implementable solutions

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in business analysis, functional leadership, or technology management within energy trading environments, with at least 3 years in a delivery leadership capacity

• Process Improvement: Demonstrable ability to analyse existing business practices, identify optimisation opportunities, and agree these with senior stakeholders

• Methodologies: Familiarity with agile software development methodologies and business process mapping techniques

• Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and execute regional technology roadmaps aligned with global GPR strategy

• Self-Management: Strong capability to self-manage, prioritise, and plan activities across multiple project work streams

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, manage, and develop the regional GPR business technology team, including business analysts and functional specialists

• Mentor junior colleagues and foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing

• Manage resource allocation and prioritisation across multiple initiatives and BAU activities

• Conduct performance reviews and support career development for team members

Strategic Planning & Global Coordination

• Define and maintain the regional technology roadmap for GPR systems, ensuring alignment with global GPR strategy and regional business priorities

• Coordinate closely with global GPR initiatives to ensure regional alignment, consistency, and knowledge sharing across regions

• Act as the primary technology liaison between regional GPR business and global IT teams

• Participate in global GPR technology forums and contribute to enterprise-wide standards and best practices

• Prioritise initiatives based on business value, risk, and resource availability

Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Management

• Develop and maintain robust working relationships with regional and global GPR business stakeholders, traders, schedulers, and operations teams

• Lead the gathering and analysis of business requirements, business processes, and business scenarios

• Ensure business cases for technology changes are robust and aligned with organisational goals

• Present technology solutions and recommendations to senior management

Solution Design & Hands-On System Delivery

• Oversee the design and implementation of ETRM configurations and customisations across trading platform

• Work with functional architecture and delivery teams to shape the design of solutions, focusing on optimising business processes

• Take a hands-on role in system delivery activities, including configuration, testing, and deployment of ETRM solutions

• Actively participate in technical workshops, design sessions, and solution build activities alongside delivery teams

• Ensure solutions are designed with user experience and operational efficiency in mind

• Support delivery teams throughout the development lifecycle to ensure solutions meet business requirements

• Manage system dependencies and integration points across the GPR technology landscape, including connections to back-office systems, regulatory reporting platforms, and settlement systems

• Oversee integration architecture between ETRM platforms and complementary systems

Back Office, Regulatory & Settlement Functions

• Ensure technology solutions support back-office operations, including confirmations, invoicing, and accounting processes

• Oversee implementation and maintenance of regulatory reporting capabilities to meet compliance requirements

• Manage settlement system functionality and integration with trading platforms

• Work with finance and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely settlement processes

Implementation, Testing, Quality Assurance & Change Management

• Oversee UAT activities and ensure comprehensive coverage of business scenarios

• Support quality assurance teams to ensure that solutions adhere to business requirements and quality standards

• Assist change management and training teams in preparing business stakeholders for process and functional changes

• Provide escalation support for production issues and coordinate resolution efforts

Initiative Leadership

• Act as Initiative IT Lead for significant regional or cross-regional GPR technology projects

• Coordinate activities across multiple departments, regions, and vendor partners

• Ensure successful delivery of complex initiatives on time and within budget

Qualifications

• Education: Excellent degree from a top-tier university in a field demonstrating logical thinking, analytical capability, and clear communication skills (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, Economics)

• Certifications: Relevant certifications in ETRM platforms, Agile methodologies, or business analysis would be advantageous
