Job Description

Refrigeration Compliance SME — Solution Architect/ Implementation Engineer

The Role

Facilio is hiring a Refrigeration SME to be the primary domain expert and service delivery lead across our food-retail customer engagements. You will lead the customer success and remote monitoring service delivery efforts for the food retail customers focussed on end-to-end monitoring and failure prediction of refrigeration systems and serve as trusted advisor to customers engineering and operations teams — owing full life cycle of the customer engagement starting from first BRD workshop through post-go-live optimisation.

Every SOW we deliver to a food retailer contains a refrigeration layer requiring specialist judgment. You will own that layer with authority — and shape how Facilio solves it at scale.

What You'll Do

Solution Architecture

  • Design end-to-end refrigeration monitoring & compliance architectures for multi-site retail deployments
  • Define connectivity strategy: controller compatibility, agent topology, data ingestion design
  • Architect asset hierarchies, rack-to-case mappings, refrigerant libraries, and commissioning standards

Customer Engagement

  • Lead refrigeration discovery workshops and BRD sign-off with engineering & FM stakeholders
  • Own the refrigeration solution design section across proposals, BRDs, and SOWs
  • Deliver advisory through UAT, go-live, and post-go-live optimisation phases

FDD & Alarm Intelligence

  • Define FDD rule strategy — translating customer set points into prioritised monitoring programmes
  • Design rules for iced cases, superheat deviations, slow leaks, valve anomalies, sensor faults
  • Advise on alarm severity frameworks, noise-reduction, and escalation paths post go-live

Presales & Product Influence

  • Scope refrigeration workstreams in customer proposals — controller compatibility, FDD complexity, regulatory obligations
  • Represent the customer voice in product discussions; shape roadmap with domain-led requirements
  • Build reusable artefacts: reference architectures, FDD rule libraries, compliance playbooks

Regulatory Advisory

  • Lead EPA 608 and AIM Act compliance design: event types, leak rate logic, inspection scheduling
  • Guide customers migrating from Accruent/Verisae and similar legacy CMMS platforms
  • Advise on HFC phase-down implications and audit-readiness under evolving refrigerant regulations

What You Bring

Refrigeration Systems

  • System architecture: parallel compression rack systems, CO2 transcritical, secondary loop, and DX systems — and how architecture choices affect monitoring strategy
  • Controller hierarchy: store controller (E2 or equivalent) → rack controllers → case controllers → sensors; ability to read full point lists and map I/O to asset telemetry
  • Emerson/Copeland E2/E3 (required); Danfoss AK-SC255 / AK-CC series (preferred); iLon, RDM, Carel, Modbus, BACnet, LON integration experience
  • Temperature zone expertise: low-temp frozen (−10°F to 0°F), medium-temp meat/dairy (25–35°F), high-temp produce (35–45°F) — and how zone-specific set points anchor FDD rule design
  • Defrost cycle types — electric, hot gas, off-cycle — and how defrost recovery patterns surface in telemetry as iced-case or false-alarm signals
  • Refrigerant thermodynamics in practice: superheat/subcooling management, EEV control, floating suction pressure, condenser head pressure optimisation
  • Refrigerant types across the transition landscape: R-404A phase-down, HFO alternatives (R-448A, R-449A), natural refrigerants (R-744 CO2, R-290 propane) — and their GWP and system design implications

Regulatory & Compliance

  • EPA Section 608 in depth: annualised leak rate calculation (refrigerant added ÷ full charge), inspection frequency thresholds pre- and post-AIM Act, 3-year recordkeeping obligations, and technician certification by appliance type
  • AIM Act HFC allocation schedule and its practical impact on asset retrofit decisions, refrigerant procurement, and compliance programme design for large portfolios
  • Familiarity with CARB SLCP regulations for accounts with California footprint; understanding of when EPA mandatory retrofit or retirement obligations are triggered
  • Prior experience operating or implementing a refrigerant tracking system — Accruent/Verisae, ServiceChannel, or comparable CMMS with compliance module

Consulting & Delivery

  • 3–5 years in solutions consulting, SA, or implementation — CMMS / connected buildings / IoT preferred
  • Led discovery workshops and produced solution architecture artefacts for enterprise customers
  • Comfortable scoping commercially, assessing risk, and holding a strong technical opinion
  • Full lifecycle experience: BRD → delivery → UAT → post-go-live ROI/Value Add advisory

Industry Background

  • Experience in commercial refrigeration — as a controls specialist, field engineer, or FM/energy consultant at a multi-site food retailer
  • Preferred: direct experience at a grocery chain (20+ stores), refrigeration OEM, or connected refrigeration SaaS
